L.A is playing great hockey with Carter now lighting it up, Its going to be a hard 4 points to steal.

Just worry about getting two points out of ANA first. that hasn't happened.....ever. It feels like anyways.

4-2 W @ANA Iginla hat trick... Kipper badly ouplays Hiller.
3-1 L @LA Nothing in the tank.. keep it close but no cigar.
2-1 W @LA Tight game with great goaltending.. Flames net the winner late in 3rd.

IF they can steal a win and another point and come out of this with 3 points, I think they will have a shot at the playoffs. If they can get 4-5 points then the playoffs become a real possibility.
This will be interesting.
|
If they only get 3 out of 6 points, the playoff chances will actually decrease. They have to play well above .500.

Yeah, I'm not expecting a win in Anaheim. If we can take both games in LA and maybe perhaps a point in Anaheim, that would be the best we could hope for.
More likely we go 1-1-1 though.

it is a critical juncture of the season. givne the flames have lost once to the kings, they have the revenge factor going for them in at least 50% of the games vs the kings.
my advice, is to strap yourself in and enjoy the ride.......

If they can't win in regulation they just need to make sure they get the game to OT.
Anaheim/L.A. are likely not in direct competition with us for a playoff spot so they just need to get points.
Any way they can get to 4 points is a success even if they go 1-0-2.

Next game vs ANA
ANA pp 1st
CGY pp 9th
ANA pk 27th
CGY pk 21st
ANA gfa 3rd
CGY gfa 9th
ANA ga 13th
CGY ga 27th
Side note Oliers gfa 24th
I would like to see Kipper get the nod for ANA and the second LA game.
MacDonald vs LA on the back to back.

If you win in Anaheim, you wanna give yourself the best chance to keep the streak going = kiprusoff. If you lose, you want to give yourself the best chance to bounce back right after and stay above .500 and relevant in the playoff race= kiprusoff.
Maybe MacD on monday if we've picked up points in the first 2 games?

Really? I could have sworn it was 2004 and both Iginla and Kiprusoff were injured (Conroy had something like 4 assists) and since then we've been 0-10-5, IIRC.

We have a very easily schedule for about 8 games after the next 4. The California trip and Detriot. Lets just hope for .500 hockey. If we can manage 4 points in next 4 we have a real shot at the playoffs

2-0-1 is excellent, and I think the best case scenario here, team really takes a step forward.
2-1 is good, and possible if they don't take a night off and Kipper maintains play
1-1-1 is okay, and would be a fairly realistic expectation
1-2 is meh, and would be typical of the past 3 season-flames, keeps us treading water at .500 and very middle of the road.
Anything less is unacceptable, and probably feels pretty deflating after these two very good wins for the team.

You know, if we would have held our lead in Colorado, we'd be in the eighth seed right now.

I'm so glad the Flames have gone 4-1-1 in their last six, and I'm hoping they keep it going, but these next three games are going to be TOUGH.

The season doesn't rest on these 3 games IMO. But what is important for teams straddling the playoff line is that you minimize - or avoid completely - 3 or more game losing streaks. Those skids are playoff killers in the 3 point games NHL.
