Comeau isn't gifted, but he's quick and he's strong in the corners. He's a good 4th line player that gets elevated when he has jam. Scotty Bowman did that for years ... find 9 players up front that "had it" and build 3 lines out of it.
Baertschi did have a rough first powerplay and first period overall, but I really thought in the second he was starting to make things happen and help the flow. I wonder if it was partly his play and partly that big hit he took. Maybe as much a precautionary benching as a disciplinary one.

And between Gratton, Jackman and Comeau, Comeau is the one that has shown scoring ability before and really has worked hard to earn the icetime. He is great on the defense side of the puck and as much as plays die on his stick, his work ethic is one of the tops on the team. Good to see him get a goal.

Using last night's lines (though it doesn't really matter), once Backlund is back, you have to believe that Baertschi goes down (and should):

Glencross – Backlund - Cammalleri
Cervenka – Hudler – Iginla
Tanguay – Stajan – Stempniak

Exactly who, out of that top 9, is Baertschi going to replace right now?

The other factor that I think some people are forgetting, is that Baertschi has had 2 injuries this year. Since the end of November, he has palyed 12 games - and with very limited ice time. 12 games in over 3 months. About 140 minutes on the ice.

He needs to play and he needs the puck on his stick. He should be in Abby.

It'll be a sad day when Baertschi is playing on the 4th line.
