Unfortunately this is exactly the type of deal I could see the Flames making.

I was going to make some sort of argument that weiss was in fact better than stajan, but in reality they are so close in almost every department it is scary. That being said, if he is anything like this years stajan I would most certainly love to have the two of them on the roster. Granted they are not Backstrom, Getzlaf or any other top tier center but they would do well under hartley. Too bad now he couldn't be acquired for a playoff push.

I was hoping the Flames would sign him this off season even if hey had managed to get ROR into the fold. I'm still hoping they make a pitch for him.

As nice as it would be to have a couple elite centres to build around, I don't see that happening until the Flames draft and develop them on their own. Too hard to come by otherwise.

Until then a couple or three speedy, two way, 50 ish point, $3-5 million centres who can win draws and have some smarts and determination would be great. Collect as many as you can I say, the more depth the better because they can usually play wing if need be.

30 years old or less preferably.

I would not complain about having two stajans and a backlund at this point.

Granted the Flames could use another center playing the way Stajan is this year. I'd be a touch leery though about going after another veteran player from the Panthers.
Hate to talk about the team to the North and especially in terms of saying something that might help but I think he would be a good fit for them on their 2nd line especially if they can move Gagner who is a bit redundant on the team with so many small "skilled" guys.

The Oilers need a good center almost as much as the Flames do.
