Getzlaf & Perry pull a Parise and Suter and they both sign with the Flames.
I can dream.

I just don't think it's the right timing for the Flames. If they end up keeping Iggy and the rest of the team together, there isn't cap space. If they have a "fire sale" and have all younger players than I don't think Perry is the star you want the younger players to look up to.
I just don't see Perry being a good fit on the Flames. If Getz was available, I would give him whatever he wants to be here.

Perry is the kind of player the flames need. The flames are probably not what Perry wants.

I'm sure Feaster will make a pitch, make a big deal out of it, lose out and then pat himself on the back for trying.

Flames should and will make a pitch. Getting game-breaking talent is what sets a good franchise apart from a great one. He is still young enough to be part of a rebuild if that happens, and with him the Flames would move on towards being more competitive sooner. Flames as is would be more competitive with him.
High dollar and term contracts always scare me though. I do bet he gets a 7 year deal, upwards of 7.5 million.
However, if the Ducks really do well this year, I wonder if that will make him change his mind. As it stands, there is a good shot at them making the conference finals. Winning always entices a player to stay.

I would say the timing was wrong just because you really don't have enough assets to take advantage of a Perry, he's the peice you add after a brace of first round picks are coming to fruition, if you are adding Perry as Igiinla and Kipper retire you just end up repeating the last 5 or 6 years.

What was his relationship like with Carlyle in Anaheim? He won the Cup/Hart with him as coach, so I think him signing in Toronto is a likely destination.
He's not coming here of course, so this thread is pretty meaningless, but considering what Feaster offered Richards, I would give Perry the same and then some.
When was the last time a former Hart winner left a team as a UFA? It's been a long time that's for certain. The Ducks are going to miss out on a massive return for him now that they are in contention for a playoff spot.

I too see Perry going to Eastern Canada.
I agree that he's exactly the type of player the Flames need.....heck, every team needs that kind of player.
For the price it'll take though, it would like an awful contract after he plays a season with Stajan instead of Getzlaf.
Personally, I'd rather the Flames go out and spend $10 million/year on a couple of top six centers instead of $8 million/year on a high profile winger.

I think you are crazy if you think he's going to get less. He's a better player than Parise and he got more than $8 million.

Eight million? Can he be a franchise guy?
Center piece or a sidekick to the superhero?

If it's a money issue I think they'll keep Perry and trade Ryan. At least that's what I would do.

I must be missing something. Why Ottawa?
Cause he is from Peterborough or played in London? Honest question.

No. This will only derail the inevitable rebuild and would make me hate Feaster. Draft our own god damn talent for once. Why would people be stupid enough to add a big name power forward to a soft line-up when we can trade Bouwmeester and Iginla for another first and draft one later in the first round. Is Corey Perry going to improve our draft position? No, so keep him off the Flames. We need draft picks you morons, not a Hart Trophy winner. DRAFT PICKS!!!!! YOU GUYS ARE IDIOTS! THIS WILL ONLY HOLD US BACK!!!!! If you think i am being serious then you are dumb.

No.
Throw that kind of money at a centre when and if one becomes available.
