Yep.
I actually like aliu going down. One less goon.
McGrattan is KIND of better in that he is less crappy than Aliu and it's less likely I'm going to watch him get a serious brain injury, but it's still crappy.

If you try to look at this season as some sort of tragi-comic Coronation Street-esque soap opera, its actually pretty fun to watch.

I do. Aliu is a type a player that a team can use. Someone who isn't afraid to use his body at any time, and cause a bit of a mess. Not to mention he's got energy due to his youth.
I don't even know anymore.

Anyone check the paper work to make sure the Flames didn't put that third round draft pick on waivers?
Onto the topic at hand, this was coming a mile away. Aliu did his job, forced a penalty, and I'd rather it be Jackman sent down if they're going to keep two of the same ilk (though Begin basically makes it 3).

No, Jackman got extended minutes after almost being traded.

I know, talking "sent down" in a more broader sense I guess.

I liked what Aliu brought. He's a distraction to the other team, and can actually hold his own when he has the puck.
I'm of the opinion that Aliu could be a permanent member on our 4th line, moreso than others... but I might be in the minority there. I'd like to see Aliu/Jones/Jackman.

Plan the parade! Ha ha. Will be interesting to see if McGrattan can still drag himself around the ice for 3 minutes at the NHL level.

I enjoyed the ride, even last year. But this ROR mistake is massive and thinking a goon is going to fix your problems is stupid.
Baertschi needs to be in play for a playable player.

What a joke of a franchise.
He'll probably get more minutes than Baertschi too.

To be fair all Aliu does by drawing penalties is ensure the Flames won't score for 2 minutes so maybe that's why he was sent down

Flames management managing roster - Have 3 healthy centers, send two of them down. A young player shows some grit and ability to draw penalties, send him down for a rent a goon. Comeau has every play die on his stick, to the first line with you. Glencross being generally bad most of the time, huge ice time, Baertschi showing flashes of 1st line caliber skill, gets 8 min a night if that.

We've got one of the best power plays in the NHL and Aliu is way more useful than a guy who can't skate and a liability on the ice.

Oh goody. 31 year old goon to the rescue.
Aliu might not develop into something that can help this team over the next several years, but I know for certain McGrattan won't.

'twas a joke. The PP hasn't been too effective from what I've seen lately (end of Minnesota game, end of last nights game). I would way rather have Aliu up than McGrattan/Jackman
