He is getting a new one. When he was interviewed after his first practice he said he already had one being painted.

Thats just a ridiculous argument, he's a Flame right now and should be supporting Flames colors/logo.

Yeah, it looks like it was, although his design and color scheme does work will with Flames Colors.

The color scheme is probably the only reason that he has not been asked to change his mask until the new one comes in. If it was the colors of the wild or maple leafs, he would probably be wearing a white generic mask.

who cares what mask he is wearing lol, just stop the puck. seems like the team in front of him are a little more trusting, our defensive zone work still needs a ton of work. I think he has done an admirable job of stepping in, he seems to have more poise than Irving by a mile. Only thing that drives me nutz is everytime the opposing player comes out behind the net he is alwasy on his knees, stand up once in a while lol............ I too agree Irving has seen his last game unless another goalie gets hurt, that kid is like a fish out of water

MacDonald is not going to change his mask until he see's what plays out once Kipper comes back. MacDonald Played a great game last night and kept the Flames in it when the Wild were pressing late.
The outstretched save on the 2 on 1 was outstanding.

Maybe it's his lucky helmet!! At least the flames colours are red and not yellow. It stands out a lot more with Boston!

Maybe it's a sentimental mask and he's wearing it for comfort until he gets his new one? He covered up most of the Wing's logos, who cares?

Irving sucks why would we want a future with him, people keep talking like its such a big loss...any other team could have had him for free and passed

Since a handful of people seemed to have skipped reading or don't believe Inferno's post, it's been mentioned in articles a bunch:

Also, if you’re wondering, MacDonald is still sporting a goalie mask with a Motown inspired paint-job. But not to worry, he says, a new one is en route from Detroit — soon.
“You know what, it’s one of those things. It’s been at the painters getting painted since I got here,” he said. “It takes a week or so to get done. It’s only just been over a week. I should have it hopefully by the weekend. It takes two or three days to dry.

I wouldn't be shocked if he signs here.

Macdonald now has won as many points as Kipper in fewer games as well as a better save %. I hope he doesn't just sit permanently when Kipper gets back.

I don't see MacDonald signing here.
I think the plan is to sign Ramo, bring him over and have him back up Kipper next season....but not like the backups of the past 10 years, but more of a platoon situation, depending on how Ramo plays. Like, roughly 25-30 starts for Ramo for example.
You never know though, I guess.

Macdonald really is a calming influence back there. He obviously isn't as good as Kipper, but he hasn't really let in any backbreaking weak goals. I feel 10x more confident with him in net then any of the other youngsters.
