Even that's still going to be offside... you'd have to move his personal line almost to the faceoff circle since that's where he's finally "on-side"
Ridiculous miss by the linesman.

Picture says 1000 words. Not even close to being onside.

I really don't want to hate the Avlanche, but when I hear the Altitude guys call a game...they turn into a combination of the Canucks and Oilers to me.
Not related to your post, as a guy who has Pekka Rinne as a goalie in a fantasy league, I like today's result....never ever play the other guy Trotz, you always play Rinne!

That linesman is not qualified to draw a straight line using a ruler, let alone work in the NHL. He was standing right on the line and looking at the play, so what's his excuse?

He must have thought a Predator played the puck into the zone....

About the Altitude guys...trust me, we don't like it as Avs fans either. They will gush over players that we think are total crap, and completely gloss over the terrible plays/decisions by certain people in the organization. It is hilarious sometimes as there are certain games (especially the Pacific time zone ones) where many Avs fans believe they just get completely hammered while trying to call the game.

Yeah there's a big difference between homers and cheerleaders in the booth.
I like the Flames broadcast.. not everything is a good play. When the Flames struggle, Kerr and Simmer say they're struggling.

Not only did the dmen quit on the play, it actually looks like Duchene does too until he sees the ref waive it off out of the corner of his eye, then he finally touches the puck and roofs it. If the blueline was where the ringette line usually is, he still would have been offside.
Linesmen are usually pretty good at their jobs. Cute girl in the stands maybe?

83.2 Deflections / Rebounds – When a defending player propels the puck out of his defending zone and the puck clearly rebounds off a defending player in the neutral zone back into the defending zone, all attacking players are eligible to play the puck. However, any action by an attacking player that causes a deflection/rebound off a defending player in the neutral zone back into the defending zone (i.e. stick check, body check, physical contact), a delayed off-side shall be signaled by the Linesman.
It clearly deflected off the pred defender and thus because his deflection propelled the puck into the zone Duchene was onside.
Not agreeing just saying that was why it was allowed.

The puck was played from the Colorado zone, not from the Preds zone and rebounding back in.

It obviously didn't bounce out of the defending zone, into the neutral zone, then back into the defending zone, that's even more of a stretch than the linesman just not seeing the play because it was too close. The linesman apparently did say that's what he thought (it bounced back in), but if that's the case, he obviously doesn't understand the rule.

Same principle applies though. The rule states that because it was played by a pred last it was not offside. That's the rule not the official. He got the call right. Touched by the defending team last and brought into the zone, therefore onside.

Nope it was the wrong call. Bob mckenzie just said on his twitter, he labeled it a horrendous mistake.

It is about time that every goal is reviewed for all possible infractions... including offsides, penalties etc.

83.1 Off-side - Players of the attacking team must not precede the puck into the attacking zone.
The position of the player’s skates and not that of his stick shall be the determining factor in all instances in deciding an off-side. A player is off-side when both skates are completely over the leadingedge of the blue line involved in the play.
A player is on-side when either of his skates are in contact with, or on his own side of the line, at the instant the puck completely crosses the leadingedge of the blueline regardless of the position of his stick. However, a player actually controlling the puck who shall cross the line ahead of the puck shall not be considered “off-side,” provided he had possession and control of the puck prior to his skates crossing the blue line.
It should be noted that while the position of the player’s skates is what determines whether a player is “off-side,” nevertheless the question of an “off-side” never arises until the puck has completely crossed the leading edge of the blueline at which time the decision is to be made.
If a player legally carries or passes the puck back into his own defending zone while a player of the opposing team is in such defending zone, the off-side shall be ignored and play permitted to continue.
This is what the linesman interpreted.

I don`t think it did touch a predator, but either way it`s still offside.
