Yes, this I can agree with. I've seen the hockey setup and it does look a little amatuer-ish. I'd imagine a successful on ice product and the fact that the high-end seats and luxury boxes are a shiny new toy in a city bursting at the seams with high end clientele, will outweigh the awkward ice hockey setup.

If the Islanders can start icing a competitve team with a new owner, I think this move to Brooklyn will be hugely successful.

I wonder how much, if any, of that suite and club money the Islanders will see as tenants in the building?

This will give mathew hulzier, ice edge holdings and Greg Jamieson a shot at buying an NHL team

I'm sure Islander fans everywhere are praying he sells the team....even the non-religious ones.

I would trade our entire team and prospect base for John Tavares. Do you think Snow would accept that? Only condition is that he must take everyone!

Thats for damn sure, having an owner that is a bit more hands off would be a good thing. The Yashin deal, and being good friends with DP does not make me like Charles Wang. I feel bad he had such a hard time trying to get a new rink for them, but now is a great time to sell. Hopefully he can cash in and get good value.

People go see hockey games, not hockey arenas. As long as the other relevant stuff like concession stands are fine, I can't see that being a problem.
Besides, STH and people who otherwise go to games regurarly will get used to it halfway through the first season, and the rest won't have an opinion due rarely going to games.

I hope he sells. Then I can wear my Wang t-shirt without being made fun of.

It'll be interesting to hear what the sale price is. Forbes valued the franchise at $155M, and this was with knowledge of the 15-16 Brooklyn relocation.

True, but it's a bit odd that it might bother some and they won't invest as much as they would if it looked more proper.
Anyway, I imagine the Brooklyn Nets ownership is going to be getting some coin from the Islanders staying there. I always figured this is a temporary move until the Islanders can finally get something for their own later on. Perhaps the new owner will be able to do that.

I thought they just signed a twenty year lease or something like that

At the press conference announcing the move, Wang said it was an "iron-clad" 25 year lease.

I figure they would allow an option for Islanders to escape out if needed. Probably would have to pay.

I just hope whoever buys the Islander franchise isn't as much of a dick as Wang was.

If the Nets ownership buys them would they make the Isles switch to Black & White uniforms?

I hope not, one black and white team is enough. I hope they keep the blue, orange, and white and get rid of the hideous black, orange, and purple monstrosity as soon as possible

They aren't. More like half of that. That's why he won't be able to sell them. The Flames aren't even worth that much. Or the Oilers. Or the cup champs, even, for that matter.
