I used to drive to out of town gigs if it was feasible when I dj'ed, and put about 26,000 km's/year on my car (mostly highway), and bought another one in between (had an old Civic that wouldn't quit!). Now that I'm doing more promotion/journalistic stuff for a label/site on top of my regular and have lived near or in DT I maybe drive 8,000 km's/year or less.

I put 55k on my work truck last year. My wife drives a 2009 and is just under 50k so like 12k/ year (including 2 vacations totaling 10k+/-). It really depends on your job I guess.

My 07 is used for a daily commute which was strictly highway driving and had 160k last May. I still use it for the daily commute and it now has 164k.
Our 2012 we got in late 2011 is for family trips as it more comfortable and fancier has 11k on it.
Aside from hockey travels, we are don't travel much.

When my Dad was an insurance adjuster in the East Kootenays he used to drive 45 to 55 thousand kilometers a year. Since I moved to St. Albert again in two plus years my wife and I have put about 48,000 km on our two vehicles combined. So under 12k a year each.

Question for you- how do you know it was driven for only 18 months?

Our two vehicles add up to about 60,000 km/year. About 40000 of that is my truck.

I realize some commute more than others for people depending on their job, but wow, this city is pretty awful for long commutes. I did conciously move closer to work and all my amenities such as grocery stores, restaurants, etc. close by. Political/social views notwithstanding, lowering my carbon footprint has also gained me little things in life such as time for exercise/cooking as well as the awful "road stress" of driving in rush hour. Don't miss that part one bit.

I'd way rather have a 2011 with 60,000km on it than a 2008 with 40,000km. That means it's probably a lot of highway, where as low milage vehicles mean lots of short trips. My car only sees about 10,000/year, but about 7,000 of that are bad kilometres, super short trips, lots of starts on the engine, oil not getting to full temperature, all sorts of things that are bad for cars. Low milage isn't always a good thing.
