Guy should be forced to take anger management before being allowed back in the arena.

When I coached my kids there were two occasions where I had to tell parents in the stand to shut up. These were parents from our team. I also saw one parent, who I used to coach with, get kicked out of the rink. Most of the kids on the bench were doing high-fives. Fortunately, his son was on the ice at the time.

A few years back Hockey Canada instituted a program where all parents had to watch a video on this stuff before their kids were allowed to play. The same year that came out is the year that the guy I knew got booted out of the arena.

Parents- chill out, shut up and enjoy the game!

My oldest son never played hockey but we had plenty of problems with this in football, when he played. More than one game, parents were escorted off the field/from the bleachers. More than once, a few of us told parents to sit down and quit beaking at the refs and players.

One game, we had a good half dozen parents sent out of the bleachers/off the sidelines, along with the coach. That one saw the cops show up at the field, and monitor everyone, to make sure the ejected parents didn't try to start something once the game was over. They were some pissed off with our refs, called them names, all sorts. It is the most out of control I've ever seen people before. Just weird. The coach was practically foaming at the mouth as he was escorted from the field. The tension just about made your belly hurt.

Serves this asswipe right. Once is enough - there doesn't need to be a second time. *shrug*

I've worked an annual weekend minor hockey tournament for the past 3 years, just embarassing how much stuff like this happens. I've never seen anything that extreme, but there's always minor incidents sort of like that going on. It's pathetic really.

I'd say its the reason why I wouldn't put my potential future kid in hockey, but if he takes after his old man, he won't have the skill to be playing AA or AAA anyway..

I coached hockey for 18 years in Calgary and have MANY stories about idiot parents.

I had one father, an ex MLA and devout Mormon, come right onto my bench to berate his son. He would climb the glass to scream at anyone who would listen. I had some not so choice words for that "person", he wasnt a man as far as I was concerned, and we ended up booting him from the rink. It was unfortunate for his son who had some talent and really loved being with the kids....he never enrolled in hockey again after that year.

This happened once to my coach, he was first kicked off the team for being a psycho, then kicked out of the stands because he was yelling too much. Good call on kicking him out, parents like that completely ruin the game, I remember my psycho coach season as being terrible and not fun at all.

Mr Minnie reminded me today, after I shared this thread with him, about our daughter's third year of soccer and what happened with a psycho parent screaming at their kid. I'd forgotten about it. I think it was the best way I've ever seen it handled - and not by the adults, either.

Dad was yelling and screaming at his kid about this move or that play or whatever was getting up his ass about it. Kid was getting very upset and the coaches were trying to make the poor kid feel better. Dad kept carrying on and finally the poor kid burst into tears in the middle of the field. All the other kids on our team were trying to console this poor kid. The kid sat down on the field crying and suddenly all the kids sat and wouldn't move. The ref tried to get them to get up and get back into play but the kids said they were not getting up and doing another thing until someone 'made that dad quit yelling, because it's mean and it's making M cry and we don't like it either.'

And that is exactly what happened. Refs ejected dad from the field and then the kids got up and played. Can't tell you how proud of those kids we all were.

My late father used to coach hockey at the minor league level with me helping him out. There were always parents screaming that their kid wasn't getting enough ice time or not playing in certain roles. One game comes to mind where this guy leans over the glass to the players bench and starts beaking off to my dad that he could do a better job. My late father turns around and grabs the guy by his jacket and hauls him into the players bench. He basicaly says..."If you can do a better job, have at it!" We leave the bench and go sit in the stands. Period ends and the guy disappears

He was just an idiot at the rink apparently. It was his own team that had him banned.

its depressing watching a grown man yell "don't touch me or I'll cave or glasses in" at his teenage sons hockey game all while holding what appears to be a 2 or 3 year daughter. Amazing level of social unacceptability. And we wonder why some kids are totally f#####.

Not going to lie, when I was a player, I loved watching the parent meltdowns from the bench.

I always respected my dad for never being embarrassing like some of the parents I saw.

I know 2 people that made the NHL and one that was drafted then played in Europe before retiring (so a respectable hockey career), and it was the same. All had parents that were very vocal at the rink. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I know one that made it to the NHL and his parents are the nicest people you would ever meet.
