Pretty sure Irving is aware of that considering they gave him one goal to work with against Minnesota and Vancouver in the previous 2 starts.

I am liking what Irving played so far. Yes there are some instances that he wasn't sharp and fighting the puck but I think he pulls through when the game is on the line. He is our backup goalie and I am very happy that he is giving the Flames a chance to win. Besides there are few goalies that started very well in their early careers. Even Kipper wasn't good when they gave him some starting goalie position in San Jose. Craig Anderson wasn't that good and he was bouncing around from the NHL to AHL and team to team. Flames even drafted this guy. Look at the two of them now, people considered both of them one of the best in the NHL.
I just hope people doesn't expect Irving to play like Kipper at all.

Impossible to say...all I know is that when the game got close and as Dallas pushed back he made the saves he needed and never let the game get closer then 2 goals.
If the Flames are not up 4-1 by the end of the first period the entire game is different and things might not go that way.
All we can see is that one goal was weak (3rd goal with Cervenka partially to blame), that he made the other big saves he needed to, and the Flames won the game.

According to MrMastadonFarm, he plays Sodoku on that white board.

If the Flames defense wasn't so pathetic we are talking about a greAt game by Irving last night.
I am concerned Irving won't always be able to make the saves to save the Flames terrible defense even if they luck into 7 goals again.

Ya because the D had tons to do with Irving being incapable of covering the puck.

It was one goal, a really awful-looking goal, i agree with you... but seriously, you need to give it a rest. One goal.

It's the first i've brought it up. All-in-all I thought Irving was slightly behind the entire night, yes he got the win but that shouldn't be the determining factor in starting another game.
The Flames scored 7 goals! He should win that game easily.

The defense left Morrow wide open in front if the net twice, watched as Ryder skated around and then left Eakin wide open 6ft from net from perfect scoring area.
Even on the one goal that Irving may have covered nothing comes of it if the Flames aren't leaving guys wide open in front of the net like usual.

It's kind of ironic because if Irving was a 30+ year old vet you would be all over him.

I think it's fair to expect a veteran goalie to not let that sort of goal in.
Irving is a rookie, gotta temper your criticism based on that.

Well deserved. He has played as well as any reasonable person could expect him to. Talk about pressure having to deliver wins for this bunch who rarely gives its goaltender a multigoal cushion. I hope he sticks it to Feaster for wasting salary space on MacDonald.

Good to hear, I think he's deserved it. I've never been a big Irving fan but it is good to see him doing well and backstopping the team to some wins. Just work on consistency and cutting out letting in those awful goals and he should be fine, that'll come with more playing time and practice at the NHL level.
I do hope MacDonald gets in a game or two at some point as well

I am pretty sure the extra 25,000 that Feaster is spending on MacDonald will not kill the Flames cap.

Very good. Standard, from the outside shots that should be routine saves are not highlight saves.
Irving hasnt really been tested with more than one or two quality scoring chances that were actually on net. He has however looked very shakey with pretty weak shots coming at him.
