It could well be intentional, but of course it's impossible to make that accusation seriously. But I wouldn't rule out the possibility based on how the play went.
Any other player, I think this gets chalked up as a horrible accident. Given that it's Cooke, I have no trouble believing it was intentional, whether it was or not.
I couldn't agree more that someone needs to end him. Permanently.
And as TSN pointed out, Karlsson yells over at the Penguins before leaving the ice.
I really feel for the guy and would love to hear what he has to say about the play. Maybe Cooke uttered something to him as the play happened, who knows.

Watching it again right now live, and I still don't know why he lifted his skate like that. No idea.
It's a bad luck incident that just happened to involve the most dangerous player in the history of the league. Don't think it was intentional but Cooke long ago lost the benefit of the doubt.
After watching it a few more times, leaning more and more towards the possibility that it was intentional. There's a reason you don't see that kind of thing in one on one battles. Cooke doesn't appear to be losing his balance and even if he was the left leg movement makes no sense.
I'm not positive about "intentional," necessarily, but at the very least, it was a really, really careless play on Cooke's part. Why was his skate up that high on that play anyway?
