This morning at the 2 LRT stations I visited, there were some priest-like fellas, which I believe were giving out ashes. Didn't really stay long enough to see how many people went up to them, but I certainly noticed their presence in their interesting garb. I'm not religious at all, just thought this was interesting....maybe a "cool story, bro" enticing story.

On a seperate note, did Calgary have any of these guys roaming about in public places all dressed up and ready to rumble?

I just saw this on my walk back to the office after lunch.

They had a sign up, something like "Ashes to go" or something weird.

Sure looked like some religious people in garb giving out ashes to me.

Why would that be odd, since it's certainly the tradition? There were definitely catholics downtown today giving out ashes, since it's Ash Wednesday.

The priest, minister, or in some cases officiating layperson, marks the forehead of each participant with black ashes in the sign of the cross, which the worshipper traditionally retains until it wears off
