I knew my cell number in canada, since I picked it.. (3927 I'm such a math geek)
here in taiwan, I have no clue.. part of the reason being the bottom half of my screen is dead, so I can't see any numbers I enter into it...

I am absolutely terrible with birthdays.

I never remember my nephews and nieces or friends, although I do remember my parents and sisters'.

Of course, my wife knows all of them and always shakes her head whenever I forget............which is every year.

My long term memory is great, short term is very, very bad.
Yep B-Days get the best of me - I pretty much can't remember anyone's other than myself. I try and shove as many of them into Outlook Calendar.

Yeah, I seem to keep all the darn numbers in my head.

My School ID # from 10 years ago. No problem.
Old phone numbers, etc.

I am so smart. I am so smart. S.M.R.T.

Do have a problem with postal codes though. Mixes up all my filing systems with the letter/number thing.

Man, I've got a few of these. I remember giving a friend directions over the phone to the house I had been renting for about 3 months back in university. I knew the street name, but did not know the address. Maybe not so suprising, but then he asked me what color the house was. I had to go out the door to look.

Another bad one is when you realize how truly bad you are with names. I had 4 roommates back in my first year of university in the dorms. Two of them remain some of my best friends to this day - the other two I never could remember which was which by name. I had to always ask one of the other guys "What's the tall one's name again?"

student ID numbers I have no problem with

High School: 975031
Undergrad: 20001912
Grad: B00377403

phone numbers not bad

birthdays I'm HORRIBLE, there's a select few I remember and that's it.

but there are some things I just don't notice. About a month or so ago my roommate's girlfriend said "I'm gonna get you guys a new shower curtain so you don't have those ugly fish hanging there. I went "our shower curtain has fish on it?" Then proceeded to check. She laughed her ass off, 10-11 months, I never noticed.

Mind details like that which have zero relevance I don't remember. I had no idea I lived next to a TD Canada trust for a few months, despite walking by it everyday as I don't bank with them. Walked with a classmate trying to find it one day and was like here it is... and there I live... nice. Now ask me where the liquor store is, I'll give you directions from the airport to every one in the city

I think Homer Simpson put it best

"I don't want to learn new things, every time I learn something new it pushed out something old. Like that time I learned how to make home made wine and forgot how to drive!"

For me it depends on the phone number - some strings of numbers just seem to stick in my head while othes I have called hundreds of time in the last few years and can never remember them. My sister's number for one - I have no clue what it is - just doesn't stick in my memory. But others I remember instantly.

If you are single - you know your cell phone number. Trust me.
If you are single and smart, you really shouldn't need one. [/b][/quote]
If by "smart" you mean: "paying hookers for s3x", then yes, Eddie, you don't need one...

You wanna talk about remembering numbers..?

Pi = 3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197169399375 105...
(approximately, I think)

I remember that because I got bored in a Gr. 9 math class and started memorizing. 12 years later, it won't go away. Actually I have forgotten a few digits...I used to be up in the 60s.

It's a curse :P

Edit: but oddly enough, I can't do simple math to figure out that it was only 11 years ago. stupid double-digit numbers!

I can one up you, I have trouble remembering my age believe it or not, after 18 I didn't really give a shinguard anymore, I actually have to subtract birth years. I think I'm 30 or 31.
You're not the only one. I hate when people ask me. It always makes me think for a bit.

I had a student once who memorized it to at least 25 digits but he couldn't do anything else.

He knew that but ask him "what is 5 times 3" and he'd say "8".

I've had problems with that too, thanks. Now I don't feel so dumb. I always have to figure out what year it is minus the year I was born, or end up asking my husband. Funny, I'm great with birthdays, and I can remember details of stories for years and years.

I never used to remember my license plate numbers but on my current car i got the best (non-vanity) one ever, Asians will appreciate:
BED 168

gaha! I am not Asian but i was at the car depot with the female-friend i was buying it from and my girlfriend (both hot Asians ) and the registrar people gave me something like BED 164, and i was like, 'Holy crap, you don't have BED 168 per chance?' And they did... and the too ladies were like, wooo Mr.hot stuff, we're impressed... lol...
and there were Asians in line that were like, 'Damn crazy white boy knows our magic good fortune numbers!'

In regards to cell phones, i work at a hospital where i monitor all the hospital communications stuff and you would not believe how many people lose their (work or personal) cell phones and pagers and of course don't even know the number to report it lost or to even try calling it to find it! So funny.... Out of paronoia, I have now attached my own number to the back of my phone just so i can remember it quickly and so if it is found people can easily just call me...

hit Mike Jones up on the low, cuz Mike Jones about to blow!

No but seriously, I forgot mine cell phone number a few times too. After like 6 months I finally memorized it. I don't have voicemail though. I use Virgin Mobile (love the service) but the fools messed up my voicemail. When I call my number to access messages it asks for a verification key things of 4 numbers. I don't have one. I tried creating one but it never works. Thus, anyone who leaves me a message gets it sent into the vast abyss that is my non-existent voicemail
