I am getting back into watching it live. It has a purer quality, vs the undercurrent knowledge that the game is already finished.

Transfer to sustainment, quit being a buzz kill, this is super cool! Come on, get swept up in the hype!

In all seriousness tho, glad to see the beer companies plan their projects about as well as the average Oil and Gas IT dept does.

So much for May 6 delivery (though I never saw that).

Was able to order it in the 1st quarter online, before the commercial was on the Superbowl...and got it today and just unpacked it...pretty cool. Haven't tried the wifi, and see what the delay is from an actual goal.

Not sure if I am going to keep it (and from looking around kijiji across Canada, not many on sale, so I must have got one of the first batch in the country) but its pretty substantial and bigger and heavier that I thought..metal used for the frame, not plastic.

Pretty cool peice, that's for sure.

Cool piece of technology... but I wouldn't have any use for it.

If I PVR the game I don't want to know about a goal being scored.

If I'm watching the game live, I see the goal live, hear the goal horn and celebration on TV and the $200 light and sound going off would be alerting me to something I already know about.

Apart from it being cool the first time you used it I can't see it being very practical for the individual.

Seems like it would be a great addition to a pub / bar though.

These look stupid as ####, and if I knew of anyone who owned one my opinion of them would be irrevocably lowered.

I thought this was a pretty funny series of tweets from DownGoesBrown during last night's 6-0 Leaf game.

Down Goes Brown ‏@DownGoesBrown
True story: Budweiser sent me one of those goal lights this week and I set it up yesterday for the Leafs and now my wife is super furious.

Down Goes Brown ‏@DownGoesBrown
For those asking how quick the Bud light goes off: no idea. I'm not at home. Will report back Monday after JVR's first shift against Schenn.

i've got one of these too and love it

i took it to my buddy's place for last night's flames game. if you put it on your dash and hit the button it's amazing how many people get out of your lane. made it to his place in record time! ....ok ... i didn't actually turn it on when i was driving, but i was sure tempted too!!

So... I have no idea about the quality of this thing, and IMO it doesn't look as nice, but if your looking for a cheaper option, from the NHL store:

$50

EDIT: Just realized it doesn't auto light, you need to use the remote, but still an idea.

This flashing LED light replicates the goal horns of all 30 NHL® squads; team labels are provided so you can customize the device to really show your loyalty. It includes a puck-shaped remote control, has a 3.5-mm audio output jack and can stand alone or be mounted for more prominent display

Looks like a piece. I'd buy one if I owned a bar, and replace the casing, then the light, then the circuitry and finally the pile of #### at its heart.
