Sportsnet broadcasts are the worst. Terrible sound, terrible announcers and the tape delay make it seem so amateur. I echo what many have saud here that TSN and NBC games seem to capture the atmosphere much better. CBC does as well to a lesser extent.

When the product on the ice is mediocre, it's hard to get enthusiastic. When they play with effort, the fans cheer like crazy. When they play like they have for the last three years, it's extremely difficult to get all ra-ra.

I love the NBC feeds where the cam behind the net catches every word in every scrum and you just know the producers are cringing with every cuss word. But crappy production overall. I hate when they show a commercial for another show, then Roger's voice clashes over the commercial's dialogue.

Players just need to stop swearing

Cheer more when we suck to buoy the team.

Again, TSN/CBC games are always intense. You can hear the chants in the dome, the cheers and the booing. As usual, I am glued to the TV during this TSN broadcast (MON @ CGY).
Would love if a Sportsnet employee could chime in on why they feel it's beneficial to their broadcast to damper the crowd noise.

Sportsnet continues to disappoint me. The out of sync problem persists.

Given the personnel train wreck of the last broadcast personnel shuffle on SNet, I figure It is only a while before The Net hires Gilbert Gottfired and Bobcat Golthwaite to do flames games.....

It wasn't consistently loud, but at times tonight it was insanely loud in the dome.
Could barely tell rewatching it on the highlights, though.

Same story every year with these guys. Their broadcasts actually detract from the experience of watching the game. It could be the best game all season but you can't hear the crowd and the colour commentary is as monotone and coma inducing as it gets. Not to mention the out of sync sound and picture. You'd think they'd have figured something out by now.

i find with the crowd noise higher it adds a lot more emotion/atmosphere - you can really tell the crowd is into the game - i find it just makes it more enjoyable to watch.
last night the flames beat the canucks! now, becuz i live in bc i was stuck with the sportsnet pacific feed. it's safe to say that i am not a fan of the canucks or their broadcasts so i was pretty pumped when i was able to sync up the sportsnet video with the fan960 streaming audio (i did this in my games room). i had to head upstairs for a few minutes so i had the game on there too. i was blown away by the contrast in crowd noise. i turned up the upstairs tv... just to see if something was wrong with it... nope... it was just the lack of crowd noise.
anyways, that's my question.

i did notice that the crowd volume was louder after he got back to me - not as loud as other broadcasts (cbc/tsn/stuff from the states), but definitely louder than it had been.
i would LOVE it if they'd turn up the crowd noise more - it just adds sooo much to the game - just my 2 cents

Nope. It's Sportsnet.
Growing up on Cole and Neale Hockey Night in Canada, now a mix with TSN, and the last few years really loving Doc Emrick on NBC and their whole production. Even boring games of teams I have no rooting interest for on NBC & TSN are way more exciting to watch than catching my favourite team on the Sportsnet tomb.
Time to step it up SN.

Well said. I must say that if some fans here understand french or do not mind listening to french commentary, RDS does a good job and you can hear the crowd very well. It was fun watching the game in english and french.
