I'll give the Canadian women this much, some of them aren't too bad at all to look at. fair or not, that's proven to be a real important part of success on the WTA tour, as the Russian contingent has proven over the past decade.
Speaking of, I heard that Sharapova is dating that young bulgarian guy who everyone is calling the next Federer. This is heartbreaking.
The women's qualifying draw is out. There are FOUR Canadian women as well. Unfortunately Aleksandra Wozniak had to withdraw from the main draw due to a shoulder injury but fortunately her spot was taken by Rebecca Marino!
Milos just lost his first match of the season to some guy whose name ends in -ov
I watched most of it. His return game is just awful, can't even get to 30 on the return. And if his serve isn't working he'll lose to anybody.
And that's 250 points down the drain as his win in Chennai last year comes off the board.
Not good.
I don't follow tennis much beyond the majors but this is starting to get out of the he's young a learning to now a real concern about him going forward is it not?
Not that being a top 20 player is something to turn your nose about but the way he has been touted by many in the Canadian media when do you start to wonder if maybe this is what he will be for his career and not a real top 10, let alone major, threat?

He's only played one competitive match this year and lost it. The Hewitt match doesn't count. This will be a big year for him. He starts the year 13th, if he's not top 8 by the end of this year then there's cause for concern.
By the summer he should be beating the Tsonga, Berdych and Tipsarevic of the world.

And bad news coming out of Tennis Canada, Vasek Pospisil has mono and will be out several months. That definitely makes him unavailable for Davis Cup. So who will be Canada's #2? I think it would have to be Polansky as this point, he's playing the best right now. As for doubles, do you make Milos play doubles as well or do you take a chance and select doubles specialist Adil Shamasdin (ranked 90th in the world in doubles). Problem is if you pick Shamasdin and Nestor and one of your singles guys get hurt, you're screwed.

Milos stuck with Federer in Round 4 if they both make it that far (likely).
Crap.
As for Poland, Janowicz could face Almagro in the 3rd but after that he's all clear until the Semi's if I read that right. Potential match up with Ferrer at that point. 24th seed, look out Roanic!

#8 Tipsarevic in the 4th round, Ferrer in the Quarters

Janowicz is a dark horse favorite of mine. He went on a pretty fun run as the 2012 season was drawing to a close. He's great to watch!
Nole gets the biggest cakewalk to the finals ever...as if he needs it in his best major.
meanwhile, Fed and Murray are stuck on the other side with all the unpredictable giants like Delpo, Milos, Tsonga. I'll be pretty mad if #2 and 3 get knocked out before the finals, because then it won't be a final worth staying up for at all.
