Yeah gyms like the Talisman Centre or the YMCA in Shawnessy are way more fun than the average gym because they offer so much more than a Golds or WHC. Then again you pay the premium for a YMCA over a WHC. I'm still walking everywhere I can, I'm amazed that even though I haven't really been hitting the gym hard at all the last few months I've basically stayed at the same weight, just from walking. Now granted I walk usually between an hour and two a day, and some people won't do that. But with the iPod on and some nice walking shoes, its a breeze (and low impact too).

Personal trainer a few time a month, combined with two weightlifting days, a full-on cardio day, and swimming. Snowboarding on weekends once in a while.
Sex too. You'd be surprised at home many calories that burns.
I used to find the gym would get boring going 3-5 days a week. Its the first month/45 days you have to get past. After that you start to look forward to going to the gym. Rarely will you see any major results in under a month. Once you do notice results, you feel that you worked too hard to get to that point and you continue going which leads to more results.
At least this is how I always found it.
I totally agree with you, going out to the gym is like an addiction for me and that I always have to keep going
A few years back I bought a backpack you can run with and I started running home from work as many days as I could. It kept me off the bus that often gets stuck in rush hour and has that added bonus of unleashing stress from the workday.
It's not something anyone can do as it may not fit every situation, but it's a good example of looking for opportunities to be more active.
A lot of people wonder how you can run when it gets cold, but honestly, those are my favourite days to run. Dress in layers, get a good pair of ski goggles if it gets cold enough, you can run through virtually anything.

I can't speak on the YMCA, but I was paying $60/mth (after the sob's raised my rates earlier this year) for the downtown Gold's and am only paying $66/mth for Talismen centre...so not much more. Add to that Talismen Centre doesn't make you sign a contract and (allegedly) makes it extraordinarily easy to cancel, IMO it's a much better deal.
Joining WHC and/or Gold's is like joining the Mafia, once you get in, you never get out!

I just have to do a lot of walking. About 20 minutes of it to get to work each day. I plan on going to the gym again in January now that I've retired my bike for the winter. I also curl once a week and go skiing when I can (it's nice having hills with night skiing 15 mins from downtown).

Running and hiking . . . . . ran a 1:53:24 in the Fiesta Bowl Half Marathon in Scottsdale on Sunday. Climbing lots of the mountains around Phoenix and Sedona the last few weeks.
I'm entered in the LA Marathon in March so I'll be starting to get hard core running the highways outside of Calgary to get ready. And lots of winter hiking in the mountains with the dogs.

Wow really? When I stopped going to the Y I was paying around $70/month (and its $85 or so for Membership +), and I thought that was pretty high, but with the weights, and the running track, the pool, gym and climbing wall, I'm sure the $70 for the Y is much better value than the $60 at Golds.
Besides gyms like the Y and Talisman generally have a higher female membership, and really its never a bad thing to have some nice ladies to look at (and of course, boosts your testosterone as you work out)

Is coffee that bad for you? If you dont put much creamer in it, I don't see how it's that bad for ya.
Coffee - good!
Double Doubles - bad!
Drink as much black coffee or green tea as you want.
If you have room in your basement (I'd want at minimum an 8x8' area) you could do Insanity. I've been doing it on and off for a couple years now and love that fact that you don't need any equipment to do it.

Probably depends on the person. I find that if I go beyond the one or two cups in the morning it affects my sleep and raisies my blood pressure. I'd use the old rule, everything in moderation...including coffee.
