But it isn't a Smith government and it seems like Redford is a lightning rod for allegations of corruption or dishonesty.

There is a current investigation into her sisters affairs that are linked to the Conservatives, there is investigations into the Katz donation, the college donations both of which look like influence peddling.

Redford is absolutely terrible.

Apparently the Premier dropped the F-bomb in the Legislature today. Waiting for video archive to be posted....

Redford is the worst premier we've ever had, just completely incompetent. I'd be surprised if she survives that parties leadership vote.

Seems to be much ado about nothing I'd say.
Yeah, but her ex is a partner in the firm, so he still stands to profit enormously.

Wildrose Leader Danielle Smith and NDP Leader Brian Mason said regardless of the outcome, Redford showed extremely poor judgment by weighing in at all on a contract that could benefit her ex-husband.

Hawkes has remained close to Redford professionally as an adviser and was the head of her transition team when she became premier in the fall of 2011.

"Did you not realize that it was inappropriate, at the very least, for you to be involved in a decision that would likely involve a substantial financial benefit to your ex-husband?" Mason asked Redford
Quote:
But when Wildrose critic Rob Anderson, who is also lawyer, suggested Redford's actions violated her duties to the legal profession and could be a matter for the law society to deal with, her demeanour changed.

Anderson said: "How can I feel comfortable (filing a complaint) when the president-elect of the Law Society of Alberta itself happens to be Carsten Jensen, senior partner in -- you guessed it --the exact law firm that you awarded the tobacco contract to. The tangled web never ends, does it?"
Quote:
It was another angry session of the legislature, with high-decibel insults flying across the aisle between the government benches and the opposition Wildrose.

When Government House Leader Dave Hancock jumped to his feet for a third time to register a breach of parliamentary rules, Anderson shouted, "Sit down, Dave."

The PCs then shouted down Anderson, one of whom appeared to mocked his religion.

"That's a Mormon!" hollered one of the backbenchers. The jab could be heard in the gallery and on the audio recording of the proceedings, but it was not clear who yelled it.

Here is the video of F-bomb ---- right at end. Personally I don't think she did, but whatever.

If you want to see it with sound....

http://assemblyonline.assembly.ab.ca...&eventid=2099#

Is at about the 33:00 minute mark

Actually the 5-10 minutes leading up to that is pretty entertaining too.

I'm surprised they don't drop more expletives with how heated some of these sessions can get. A little more course language and some insults would make legislature sessions must see TV.

They are still close. She did hire him to be on her transition team after she became leader of PC's.

Also to those commenting about alimony; I highly doubt he pays any. They were only married 5 years when they both were young. I'm not even sure if her daughter is his, so child support likely isn't a factor either.

Yeah, nothing like a bunch of politicians in a democratic society yelling back and forth at each other and constantly using swear words because they can't keep their emotions in check.

Wow

Really makes me wish that the recall platform in the Wild Rose policy made it into law.

Not only is Redford arrogant and its coming across that she's corrupt. But she has a low opinion of the Alberta voters with the continued excuse of she didn't know.

In the Navy you are responsible for all actions and personal on your ship when your the Captain. I didn't know doesn't cut it. It makes me ask who's running the fracking hen house.

She's pretty much driving the province into a hole with her borrow now spend now policies to keep up with her ridiculous campaign promises which looks like she bought her leadership in the party.

In Toronto Rob Ford gets fired for a 3000 dollar conflict of interest issue. The same process needs to happen with Redford.

But then again like the Japanese in WW2 the Conservatives have victory fever, they believe that no matter what they do they are above the law and that they can never lose.

They're like Bill Murray's character in Kingpin, they believe they can buy their way out of anything.

The fact that you have backbenchers using religious slurs in the face of the opposition questioning their actions is unbelievable.

The Conservatives have become arrogant and self entitled, Maybe its a good thing that Ralph Klein has dementia because Alison Redford and the Conservative actions would certainly kill him if he was following this.

Some of you are afraid of Danielle Smith and the Wildrose, but if the Conservatives keep up this sh$t it will be the Wildrose in power next time, no matter how much fear mongering Redford tries to push.

What a disaster this woman is, what a disgrace.

I'd almost prefer a good dust up, someone needs to punch the Cons back to reality.

The PC Party of Alberta... the "new" Liberals.

Are there actually any Liberals left that still hold membership in the Liberal Party of Alberta or have they all moved over to the "Progressive" Conservatives?

If there aren't its a smart move on their part. The Liberal party is basically dead meat in Alberta and taking over the PC party and moving it further left is smart thinking. Kind of like a wolf in sheeps clothing.

Most right wing? That implies that there are multiple right wing parties in Alberta. There aren't. The PC party has now taken over the Liberal Party position... center left. Not sure where the Libs went though... perhaps even further left?

The difference here is that Ford's dollar amount was irrelevant and he violated a conflict of interest act. Redford hasn't. Her opponents just want it to seem that way.

I love watching Redford fall from grace like this.

I didn't vote for her either.

Should be fun to see how this all plays out.

Typical Liberal hogwash. Don't have a valid answer to the allegations so just deflect the question and try and smear the other party by making something up.

Her sister is now vice-president of special projects for AHS now too. whatever that is. sounds like a patronage appointment to me.
And lets not forget it was Redford herself while Minister of Justice, who made it illegal for the Chief Electoral Officer to publish the results of the investigation into illegal campaign contributions too. hmm, think she knew that when she took that big cheque from Katz?
This government sure feels dirty to me and i have a feeling Albertans are going to be feeling the sting of Allison Redford for years and years after she is no longer Premier. I bet when she does leave, she'll walk away with millions of Albertans dollars lining her pockets and Alberta billions in debt.
