Lol. That is awkwardly obvious.

He could have at least disguised it by putting a sign on it that reads "Not a security camera."

Get a second opinion. There's no reason for Telus to refuse to service you if your neighbour authorizes an aerial trespass. Sounds like you need to talk to Addick. Too often you need to know someone on the inside to make something actually happen. Telus is easily the worst of the utilities for that.

I wonder how much I could get from Enmax if I tattoo "Enmax power pole" to my magnum dong.

It sounds like there might be a safety/maintenance/standards issue with an aerial trespass. While we may have rung one in the past, the regulations and standards are always evolving they may now rule an aerial trespass out.

Did the TELUS technician that examined your property arrive in a TELUS van or a TELUS mini-van?

There really is no other way to provide service. If this is the way that its been for years, there shouldnt be a reason why TELUS cant run a line in.

Id do it....

It looks like any normal sized person could easily grab that pre-existing (power?) line over the neighbours green deck. May be an optical illusion, but it looks like a safety hazard to me.

Probably just a shaw line. They don't hang power lines unsafely.

They don't need to actually have the origin point of your wire to be at the pole. They can tie in to a wire in the middle of a stretch between two poles. If Telus doesn't want your business, I bet that Shaw will do it. If you end up having to run a trench, it's not that difficult. You can rent a machine called a Ditch Witch that'll dig a trench in minutes. Assuming, of course, that you're trenching through soft landscaping.

Shaw is here now. Ran the wire no questions asked.
It is indeed a power line and shaw will follow all enmax lines..."enmax overrules" he says

Shaw rules!

How'd they run the wire? Is it somehow tethered to the Enmax line, or is you neighbor going to be un-thrilled about have a separate line drooping all over his land?
How come you couldn't just reconnect the existing land connections you had running to the garage?

The shaw wire is actually the height of their roof. It is straight and not drooping like the enmax wire
Turns out they did use the same wire that was connected to the garage. It was just hanging there next to the pole

He did a great job!
