I think that's the first step into hipsterism....quirky sweaters you buy at a second hand store. I went through a sweater phase in college (even went as the Coz for Halloween.....minus the blackface), and I got pretty close into stepping into the other side.

Personally, I find that jacket the OP wears to be rather fugly. But hey, it's what you like, not what I like.

What are some good all around winter boots to consider? Something that works equally well for urban/work situations (ie looks acceptable for a meeting), that you can drive it, and still does the job from a utility standpoint (ie, can wear in sloppy snow and on ice).
I have some leather boots that look nice, but are pretty useless as they slip all over the place when the surface is anything but dry sidewalk. However I'm not sure if I really want to make the jump to the other extreme and walk around in Sorels all day.

I like Bean Boots with the Thinsulate/Goretex lining. Good for these god-awful Ottawa winters.

For anyone looking for a high quality boot, I'd suggest RedWings, they go for $150-300 but will last you many many years:

Also, they are all the rage in Japan right now.

No. Like I said, they have a commando sole - or at least, you can get them with a commando sole.

More like $550 or so if you get them in calf, $650-700ish if you get them in shell (depending if you want one of the less expensive colours or Ravello). Worth every penny IMO. I wear shell almost exclusively at the office and my Indy's are perhaps my best winter boots.

I have an old coop jacket I wear from when I pushed grocery carts. I pulled the loop out of the P on coop so now it says cool.
it was free, but surprisingly practical in wind, rain, cold and snow.

I've switched to Redback boots - same design, but made in Australia of Australian Materials. Far superior IMHO.

I bought mine from http://www.australiadirect.com/ with no problems (twice actually)

I really like the brand NEFF for jackets. They can be found at snowboard/ski type stores.

I've worn this thing in pretty much every kind of weather and every kind of activity and its great. Wear it to class, wear it to play shinny, back packing, fishing, snow boarding, scrambling etc..
It is an outdoor activity staple, and great for city wear as well. I wear it all the time just around town, very warm but still breaths well. I've had mine for about four years now and it hasn't shown any wear and tear despite heavy use.
