Finally there is an end in sight to this puppet show. Or has it just begun? To quote George Carlin "Garbage in, garbage out. This is the best we can do folks".

A candidate backed by big money interests wins the required number of electoral college votes to win the Presidency.

God, I have no idea.

Best wishes to the USA, whomever they choose.

My predictions:

Romney: Colorado, Montana, Florida, North Carolina, AND Maine's 2nd Congressional District, just to be different . A total of 245 EVs.

Obama: Nevada, New Mexico, Iowa, Wisconsin, Oregon, Michigan, Virginia, Ohio, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire: a total of 293 EVs.

Also, I predict that Obama will win the popular vote narrowly. Either the state polls or the national polls are wrong in my view--a split is highly unlikely. I'm guessing the state polls are right because there are way, way more of them.

Gary Johnson does not win, even though he is a better candidate than both Obama and Romney.

I love how trusting most people are here of American voters. I'm not so trusting, because they almost never fail to disappoint, and by disappoint I mean make the worst choice. And I've had this feeling for a few weeks now, but I honestly think Romney is going to win, controversially of course, with Pennsylvania swapping out for Florida from 2000.

Romney: Colorado, Montana, Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Virginia (272)

Obama: Nevada, New Mexico, Iowa, Wisconsin, Oregon, Michigan,Ohio, Minnesota (266)

I know what you mean. I'm stuck between my rational/intellectual side which says there is absolutely no way that America could be that stupid, and there's the experience side of me saying that yes, yes they can be.

Still though I have faith in them to do the right thing and not vote the weather vane in.

I would have agreed with you until Hurricane Sandy. Now I think Obama will get around 286 votes.

Popular vote will be either tied or Romney slightly ahead.

Technically there are only forty-six states; four of the 'states' are actually 'commonwealths'. Namely, Massachusetts, Virginia, Kentucky and Pennsylvania.

Don't know enough about individual state politics to say who takes what, but I think Obama returns to the Oval Office at the end of it all.

Obama 332
Romney 206

I think Fox/Republican talking heads talk up Romney to try to influence the race.

The rest of the media declare it a toss up because if they predict Obama will win they'll be accused of bias or being in the tank for Obama.

And a close race gives high ratings because news/politics junkies just can't look away.

It is in no-one's interest to admit the race just isn't that close.

Not really, if FL, OH and VA flip to Romney it gets really close (Obama 272 Romney 266)

A landslide would be 1972 (Nixon 520 McGovern 17) or 1984 (Reagan 525 Mondale 13)

I sincerely wish yours was the case Plett, but I'm worried about the Senator's prediction. I look at Facebook comments from Americans and it's depressing.
