Removing Hardcore definitely evened the playing field in the game. I personally liked Hardcore for one reason, which was taking advantage of players who couldn't aim their passes. But I do agree that Hardcore also made games unrealistic as players would default to end-to-end rushes because they couldn't pass.

My only gripe at the moment is having both Default gameplay and All-Star difficulty for the CPU. I think this makes it extremely easy for the average player to beat the CPU. Seems as though this is a way to punish players who can't commit to actually playing all their games. I try to play my games, but not everyone's schedules can work to play each other and I don't want to have my CPU team spanked due to that.

I'm about to eat my own cooking in a bad way. Due to scheduling issues I'm unable to play for the next couple cycles, so while I busted ass to get above .500, I'll likely lose the next 5 games. Not an ideal situation by any stretch, but at least the head-to-head games are fun.

I think we can all agree if EA lets us tweak sliders next year this mode will be much, much better. I play an offline GM season now on Hardcore with pass assist bumped up two ticks. Personally I find it almost perfect.

People said they were passing a lot, but that was an exaggeration, everyone was carrying the puck at least to the red line before even attempting passes at least 90% of the time.

The way it is now, people attempt and make more passes, but there are also way more interecetions of passes. Much more realistic.

I look at the stats after every game, I am usually in the 50-60% passing range, my opponent is almost always higher, but it feels more like hockey as stretch passes are attempted, multiple passes on plays are successful completed.

My biggest issue was not the difficulty more that it was an unrealistic way to play. I am glad it is changed. Were it ever to go back, I would have to consider quitting. The game is just not fun on hardcore. Simple as that.

I understand that the game is too easy for some on this level when playing the CPU, not for me mind you, but I don't have a lot of time to play outside of this league, but I think as this league matures, it will naturally weed out the players who don't play the game and the games played percentage will go up, thus increasing everyone's enjoyment.

Now if there was something that could be done about poke check effectiveness.....
You do know that most of the top teams in the NHL hover around 35-50% pass completion. It's a game that is played on the boards, if you can carry the puck you do. It's a game of low risk high reward. Most times teams chip it, play it to open spots and go get it. Hardcore was more realistic, normal is easier, but its far from more realistic.

31 games simmed in what was a week consisting of less games than usual due to All-Star festivities.

In order to reduce the amount of simmed games occurring, everyone will have to have their teams set to CPU play enabled; even if you have no difficulty getting your games in. Please ensure your rosters are setup properly so the CPU won't over-adjust your team during games that are played by CPU or simulated.

If a GM doesn't have their settings enabling CPU play by Wednesday, and remain set to that setting for the remainder of the season, the offending GM will be removed from the league.

The procedure for this is players aren't allowed to play against the CPU until 7PM MT on the evening before the advance, or you gain permission for the opposing team GM beforehand.

Before the GM can play against the CPU on the final day if they haven't been able to get in contact with the opposing GM, they MUST post in the matchup thread earlier in the day as a public announcement they've had difficulty communicating. At this point, the GM that made the announcement has the right to play the game against the CPU.

The latest a human-human game can occurring on the final day before advance in 9PM MT. If a GM cannot play their game before that time, then the opposing GM is allowed to play against the CPU.

This means players should be communicating with their opponents for the week on the first day of advance, second day the latest, in order to minimize conflicts occurring. So please make sure you're posting in the weekly matchup threads, and sending private messages to your GM opponents to arrange setting up a game.

A GM playing the CPU prior to 7PM on the final night of the week without opposing GM consent is a serious offense, and will result in the offending GM being removed from the league.
