A scale is a three sided ruler with 6 different scales on it. (Think map scales)
I use it to measure distances on plans.
Something like this.

If you don't trust anyone, what a terrible perspective and by extension life you will have. Enjoy feeling empty and lonely.
I trust a couple people at work 100%, we rely on each other for good information and it comes in handy ALL the time.

What the hell, who even uses a 1:75 scale. I am constantly flipping the scale to find what I am looking for.
Going forward I will trust no one. (or I could start firing people and going through their equipment when the turn it in to find out who stole it)

Who uses a scale bar in this day and age? I might use mine to draw a straight line on a concept sketch. There are a bunch of old guys in my office using magnifying glasses all the time....open the computer file and zoom in!
The other day I actually used a 1 to 75 scale for a drawing. Of course I'd laugh at anyone who tried to scale off a drawing when I give them a model viewer file with all drawings attached, and you can make any measurement you need from the model.

Wow I fail to see the correlation between not trusting all co-workers and having a terrible life. It is possible to separate life from work eh? Hell, I still hangout with the co-workers that I don't trust.

I still use a scale every day and I am not yet 30.
Mostly it is to double check that the scale noted on the plan is right. Drafters have been known to label the scale on a detail wrong before. I also use it occasionally to quickly ball park the length of a pipeline as it is faster than adding up the distances. Or to check that a water body is far enough away for environmental requirements.
It can all be done with a CAD program but for a quick check I find the scale to be faster.

To add to that, I use the scale to double check because I don't always trust my drafters.
I don't think that is quite the same thing as not trusting coworkers though. My signature goes on the plan so I should be confident that the information on the plan is all correct.

You wrote that you don't trust anybody.
I agree with your second post, you don't have to trust anyone at work but that's not really what your post stated.

I find it funny...all drawings I see tend to have a scale noted on them..right beside that is a note stating DO NOT SCALE this drawing.
In terms of trusting people to do their work related tasks though..I do get why people don't. The paranoid guy who takes forever to do things often pays for himself by finding that one thing you, or someone else glanced over. I can't count the number of times I've found mistakes in people's work by chance. About 4 years ago I spent 6 months fixing a job that a junior guy said was checked and good to go. One of the owners took a quick glance at it and noticed a few things, than asked me to take a look, after 4 hours, my report was that there was more things not done right than were done right. Truthfully the times I've had the worst issues is when I did trust others. Things tend to go most wrong when you ask someone why did you do this, and the answer is well so and so told me to do this...more often than not when you chase down that trail, you will find that someone did something wrong at the start and as they say...bleep goes down hill. Even for myself, when someone reviews my work and doesn't find anything...that's when I worry that I missed something major.

I do spend a lot more time checking the work of some drafters over others. I don't think that is a lack of trust though. I simply know what each drafter is capable of and allocate my resources accordingly.
That said, I have had drafters that I didn't trust at all. I would find spelling mistakes in the blocks and templates that they shouldn't ever have a reason to change. It was either sabotage or incompetence and there is no room for either in the workplace.

This thread is about co-workers, not about everyone I meet in life, I didn't realize I had to clarify.
A workplace is highly competitive and frankly, no, I don't trust anyone there (to begin with). For me, trust is earned, not lost. At a new job, I will trust no one until it is established and for some, it never is earned.

Ok well I suppose I somewhat misinterpreted your point but I'm not sure I was the only one thrown off by your vague post.
Anyway more to the point, how you state you don't trust anyone at work and that's fine, but let's hope you never become a manager or in charge of people ever.

that's fair, and makes a lot more sense when explained.
