I worked with a lady that had a hot air balloon trip booked. We worked together for 2.5 years, and it was cancelled every time she tried due to weather. I don't know if they are just more careful about it now, but I'm certainly not going to book something that might take me 3 years to actually use.

I work with a lady who has exactly the same story.. The balloon company always seem to have some excuse why they couldn't do it.
Seems to be very common place. In the end the lady just gave up trying and wrote the money off.

iirc there would be a dozen or two dozen balloons in the sky at the same time pretty much everyday.

My dog is scared of everything. He has to wear a 'thunder vest' during storms or even when they are passing by, say, 100 kms away. He is also very afraid of power outages. He can somehow tell when there is no power and freaks out completely.

Global warming means you have to heat the balloon more now, increasing costs.

Did that actually happen? I remember hearing the same thing as a kid (the cone balloon was my favourite by far) but the story is the type of childhood lore that might or might not actually be true AFAIK now.

I used to live in Hawkwood when that was where the city ended, and the balloons would often land just there by my house. I remember watching them come down and going over to see them land. Hadn't really thought of them again until this thread, but now that it's been mentioned, I can't remember the last time I saw one in the sky. I remember counting 14 once upon a time.

Would like to give it a go someday, but like others have said, it seems these things have all sorts of issues actually getting off the ground. Probably some kind of nanny-stating going on.

I see the Remax and CTV balloons quite often in my city.
