Lol I dont think "Probably should say something to campus security" is the immense over reaction you make it out to be undercoverbrother. Guy concerned about a lone man with a machine gun.
Thank you.
I didn't freak out or anything I just thought it was strange and upon second thought, letting campus security know that there is a guy walking around with a machine gun would probably have been a good idea.
If he was walking in a group then I wouldn't even think it twice. Its the fact that he was completely alone, with a machine gun, that made me look twice.

yet he comes here to post about it........
There was a time that this was very very common in this part of the city.

There was a time that this was very very common in this part of the city.
I've been living here for 20 years and I have never seen a soldier walking around in full gear with a machine gun. The base hasn't been active since 1998 and there is now a farmers market and condo development on the site so no, to me that didn't seem like a common occurance. Especially cause he was alone.
Again I didn't freak out, or go tell everyone. I went to class, came back to work and then decided to post.
I posted cause this is exactly the kind of response I was looking for (without the attitude) you know... an explanation.

That time was like 10 years ago. I had no idea they still had military stuff happening there. I thought it was Farmers Market, Wild Rose, and empty buildings.

No 41 CBG is there, this would have both res. and reg. soldiers working year round.

Also, you so called experts should know the Farmers market moved out of there long ago as well.
Well that was like last year year wasn't it? Would exactly call it long ago. With the way this city is it wouldnt surprise me if there are people who have lived here their whole lives but havent been out of their quadrant of the city in many years. I know when I'm in the southeast I have no effing clue where I am, and I've been here since I was 5.

No to mention I can guaran-fataing-tee you that campus security have been bombarded with way crazier reports.
"Hey guys, theres an army dude with a machine gun on campus. Thought you should know...."
Perfectly reasonable.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
Wasn't there some high profile diplomat or some such there just yesterday?
Maybe another today? ... Just grasping here.
That would explain why the police had blockaded access to westbound Glenmore right before lunch. I was wondering if it was a rehersal for something to do with Lougheed's funeral

Were you on the campus or "by" the campus. The old base is across the street from MRU, there are still military on that base, I reckon it was a "test" walk.
Why would it be illegal?
Because its dangerous, and I think people should be notified before such training exercises happen outside of the barracks.
