Some people are only happy when they are unhappy.

If they don't like it, they can organize it.......

Well Here is my idea for this year ( my last tourney to organize while living in Oklahoma. Im Calgary bound after this one) ... Thoughts /Suggestions/Any teams wanna travel from Canada?

We are still working on the flyer for this but I wanted to get the message out to OKC Hockey asap.
The tournament that OKC hockey has been waiting for is now scheduled. The 3rd annual OKC Gladiators Labor Day Classic: Shootout for the Sticks will be held in OKC on Labor Day weekend. The tourney is a bit different than previous years as this year's division winners will win Brand New Hockey Sticks ( 12 per winning team). It wont be cheap old sticks , we are talking RBZ's,V9E's, or 25k Ribcors ( which ever sticks we end up deciding to buy). A cash award for winning can be accepted in lieu of the sticks. We plan to have 4 divisions with 8 teams per. ( worst case 3 divisions with 8 teams per). Due to the awards these spots will fill up fast. You can bring multiple teams to the tourney but skill level within the divisions will be strictly enforced. Please let me know if you'd like more info.

How are your (or a friend's) photo skills. I was at a kid's tournament that had a photograper take pictures of the little ones playing. As an adult, there are not many times where your photo gets taken when you are playing, so perhaps a nice photo CD for each team (a couple of action shots, bench shots, goalies, and a team photo shoot) might be a nice keepsake for the players.

Edits: Oops. Didn't see the bump date, so was answering the SWAG idea. Nice prizes with the sticks.

Its def ok... all ideas are welcome. Especially good ideas like this... We have a lot of friends who shoot stuff ( guns and photos ... ehhhh ohhhhh ). We had a fundraiser tourney for a couple teammates that were affected by the tornado. The OKC Baron's photographers came out and shot pics. The pics were AWESOME. I was to busy running things that I didnt get to get on the ice but I wish I could have gotten a pic of me in action... ya know standing around on the ice with my head up my ass , or on the bench bent over almost puking... that kind of thing..

hey nj

i know you did a bump on the thread, but i thought i'd give you some 'fun' ideas....

i just played in a fun tourney a couple weeks ago - and they do stress FUN!!!!

after every game they had work gloves for each team's mvp... hardest working player

at the end of the tourney they gave out a ton of prizes, but not for stuff like most goals scored or best save percentage. prizes were for things like 'funnest player', 'loudest player' (still choked i didn't win that one! ha!), most improved player - stuff like that

another idea - i was taking pics for a fast pitch tourney the a couple weeks ago (actually, the same weekend as that hockey tourney) and they raffled off a mini fridge with 120 cans of beer in it - that was a huuuuuge hit!

the ball tourney was a more serious tourney (my buddy was one of the pitchers and got $1000 that weekend to pitch in the tourney). their prizes were more serious too - like mvp, best era, etc. the cool thing was they had another guy there taking pics all weekend (since i could only be there for 2 games) and had a high quality inkjet printer at the ball park to print off a pic of each prize winner and threw it in a frame - pretty classy!

I did a tournament last year where we had 'entertainers'. Like yours, it was organized by a friend, a handful of teams. Costs were a bit higher obviously, but our special guests came into the rooms, benches, and partied with us at the bar after. Prizes included time with said guests. Depending on your demographic, that is what made alot of the guys commit to this tournament.
