Canada initially finishes 3rd in this semi-final but the English team has been disqualified, handed off the baton too late in the third hand off. They finished 2nd now and will run tomorrow in the final.

This is obviously between the US and Jamaica, but there's no reason why Canada can't be fighting for bronze in this.
edit: Canada did have the third-fastest qualifying time.

Ouch, tough for the host nation. Sounds like a great opportunity for Canadian Gold (i.e. bronze) though!

So I was talking to a co worker who grew up in Jamaica and she was telling me that all you did was run and race. Since transportation public and private was hard to come by you ran to and from school and raced your friends. While at school at recess you would have races with your friends. After school your school would have meets and instead of doing other sports or normal track and field events everything was sprinting. Regular running team running 3 legged running all different ways to run. After school you need to go to the store you ran to the store and ran home.
No wonder these guys are so fast

50k is nuts! I think that takes 4 hours.

Well, I guess we'll have to wait 8 yrs to see if this world record isn't drug fueled. Marion Jones once won a whole bunch too, but had been found she did it when she was juiced up.
Just saying

When they can't make any regular long distance categories?
