New Jersey is actually quite beatiful. I believe it is the state with the most forests/area. People get this weird impression of Jersey because the only time they ever see it is flying into the airport to go New York on the turnpike. Sure that sucks but the state itself is quite natural and impressive.

Thank you for all the people who have had a shower less than 5 minutes, had no car wash, done no dishes or laundry, and have done everything they can to use less water. If you want to see what you are doing it for, please visit my colleages at the Bonnybrook Waste Water Treatment and look at the graphs showing how much the city is using versus what we have to offer or visit the brown water lake known as are drinking water at the Glenmore Resivoir. I was dissapointed to hear that Calgarians are still washing their cars, taking 15 minute showers, and overall not caring about the water shortage we are dealing with. I know we live in the best city in the World, in a 1st World country, but I hope people realise that this situation is serious and we can't take things for granted like wasting water. Once again though, thank you to all that are doing whatever they can to reduce water usage at this time!
Cheers
Patrick

I only flush when I've pooped. Have been for 3 years. Pee is sterile you know.

That's great can you post some video of this p*ss party. My wife taught me the no flush technique she learned growing up. Visiting her folks home in a swanky part of New Jersey is bizarre because the house is a palace with marble and granite everything but the toilets are all full of urine and toilet paper. Bizarre.
Oh yeah, forgot to also say thanks to 'those who let it mellow, and only if it's brown flush it down'

A what?

What? You've never seen the Sopranos? There are swanky homes out there in the country.
I guess that is true, but at least the family is trying to relate to the average new jersey family by having their entire house smell like urine.

Indeed.
Someone should have told me before I had a 20 minute shower this morning.

20 minute shower?

Umm, I have a question for the people who feel the need to water thier lawns and gardens. Do you really think that your plants/grass needs any more water? I mean I have heard that we got atleast a few drops of water over the last 2 1/2 weeks.
The city says it will give people a warning first then a fine, shinguard if you are stupid enough to be watering right now you should be fined the first time.

apparently there's a law on the books in Nova Scotia that says it's illegal to water your lawn while it's raining.
the only time to water your lawn would be when it's hot and dry so it doesn't burn, and then you should be conserving water, haha.

I don't see why the city can't raise the price of water by 10 times for the next week or two.
|
Not enough homes are metered, and they would have to send someone out to check the metres now, and compare to what they read once the price hike is cancelled.
Oh, and thanks guys. This was not the right thread to read while eating lunch.
As for the restrictions, it could be worse. Passing through Drayton Valley yesterday, they were on a boil water alert. None of the resteraunts could even serve fountain drinks. The McDonalds up there sent a couple employees to go buy canned pop to serve.

I don't see how that would help now.
Nobody would know that the price increased. People would squak something fierce once they got their next bill, but that would be quite a bit past the critical point.

I saw a older lady (50s) in my neighbourhood this morning that was standing there watering her lawn (and part of her sidewalk). I yelled out my car window about the restriction, and all she gave me was a "whatever" shrug. If I wasn't going to be late for work, I felt like getting out and kicking her arse and putting the hose somewhere...

There's always some idiot who thinks they live by another set of rules than everyone else. Report her to the city!

Hey man, when do you think this water crisis would be solved? Within the week? Next week? I have no car this week so no need to wash it haha...and I'm running out of clean laundry soon so I have to do some shopping...I've been drinking bottled water like I always have so that's not a problem, and I only shower once a day instead of twice right now...so since you work at the water plant do you have an approximate guesstimate as to when the plant will start to catch up? Thanks.

Where was this thread when I was houseboating last week? We seemed to have gotten the nursery rhyme thing a little backwards.
If it's yellow flush it down
If it's brown, let 'er sit in the hopes of either impressing the next viewer, or making them run for the end of the boat to vomit.
Makes a lot more sense now that I read the rhyming version

Sorry but you usually shower two times a day? You just might be the cleanest guy on calgarypuck. I thought that once a day was good enough.

I know the water ban is for the benefit of everyone and that people who don't comply suck but beating up a 50 year old woman might be a little extreme.
