Sounds like a 7th round pick was what they paid...
He did get 11 starts last season, which for a DT isnt terrible, a nice depth move overall for a position of need.
I think the risk is the attitude problem, which surprises me that Chicago went out and grabbed someone like that, traditionally out of character for the Bears to do.

I'm not sure I agree with that. Their starting QB and #1 WR were other teams attitude problems.

I wouldnt say that Jay Cutler had any attitude problems at all, and yes I do know about Marshall, I guess what would be more accurate is that under Jerry Angelo is was out of the ordinary to acquire players with disciplinary problems, I guess it may be a small change we may see uner Emery

He wet his bed in Denver because the HC at the time was exploring another quarterback ... might have been Mike Vick, but not positive. He demanded a trade.
Was immature for his age and role. Maybe he's better in Chicago, I don't really follow Chicago much, but they did pick up a QB that had an attitude problem in a different city.

lol....wut?
The reason he was traded to Chicago was because he had an attitude problem.

I guess I just see it more from Cutler's point of view then I did McDaniels' (And I did before he was a Bear as well).
When you find out that your coach doesnt want you and is trying to replace you, I dont blame him for souring on the team and the new head coach. So your option is either the team signs a new quarterback and trades you, or your team doesnt sign a new quarterback and you become the face of 'Plan B', playing for a coach who knowingly doesnt want you and is actively looking to replace you.
I'd want to be traded to a team who needs and respects me as their quarterback as well, rather then trying to #### me.

I agree with most everything you say except any professional worth his weight in salt should have no problem with competition for his position, but i agree McDaniels "started" it.
This went way beyond that though, Cutler wouldnt return calls or emails from anyone with the Broncos including Pat Bowlen....once he behaved like that his ass was shipped out on Bowlens orders. Very poor attitude and extremely immature way to deal with an issue.

I agree, but at the quarterback position it is usually old vet vs young draftee, not franchise's 1st round pick vs new coaches golden boy where he goes into camp in the passenger seat for no reason. He figured his best option was to just cut ties with an organization that appeared not to want him.
It definitely was not the best way to handle the situation but at that point he wanted out and didn't want to be convinced to stay.
He hasn't done anything in his stay in Chicago to show he has any attitude problems so I guess it depends on your opinion of which side of the McDaniels incident you fall on

Well attitude problem or not, I feel Cutler was the player who's injury had the greatest impact on his teams playoff hopes in the entire league last year. I mean they lost to Tyler Palko without him. I think Cutler has matured significantly in the past two seasons and is able to make better use of what are some impressive skills. With him and Forte healthy and Brandon Marshall for him to the throw to, the Bears offence should be potent enough to have them contending. Honestly it's their defence which is long in the tooth that I think might hold them back.
Bowlen created a gong show when he fired Shanahan and than hired McDaniels. That cost the Bronco's two years. Their reward...they axe him put Elway into a higher profile position, hire John Fox and get Peyton Manning....proof that karma is BS.

However, anyone that follows the Chiefs knows that Cassel is only capable of so much, if the Chiefs get behind, he isn't going to be able to move the ball up the field. In all fairness to Cassel, the Chiefs under Haley were kind of a gong show. Hopefully with some consistency on the offensive side of the ball, Cassel can have a little more success. For the Chiefs to be successful it is going to have to be a total team effort. Cassel can manage a game, but he certainly can't win it.

I couldn't afford my Sirius anymore which I absolutely hate because I miss NFL radio.
Cassel is serviceable for sure. When Charlie Weiss was running the offence he was very effective. As soon as he took that job at Florida things got bad, and I have no doubt crazy Todd had a hand in that. I think he'll have a pretty good year so long as guys like Charles, Bowe, Moeaki are healthy and Hillis, and Baldwin don't cause trouble. But in the league today, I think you have to have a playmaker at QB to win it all. Cassel just isn't that kind of player, which isn't his fault, I think he makes the best of what he has, and is a player that the other 21 guys will go through the wall to support.
I didn't like the boos at the all-star game. He's been a solid citizen off the field, and I think he has worked hard and given it his all. It's the GM who gave him that huge contract and a nut job head coach.

I'm pretty upset that Lofa Tatupu's season is done after tearing his pectoral muscle training. I was pretty excited when the Falcons signed him after losing Lofton to the Saints.

Unfortunately, no matter what he may have said about it as he tried the comeback, the reason he was out of the league last year is his concussion issues and will never be the player he was in SEA.
The final straw was the last one he got, in that famous SEA win vs the Saints. Ran headfirst into the Saints RB on one of the last few plays of the game (no word whether that back got some of Williams' cash). Tried to play the next week vs Chicago, but didn't last a half.
Too bad, great player in his prime and was forced to do a lot for a SEA team that had only him as a decent LB for more then a few years. I would've been more then a bit surprised if he was able to handle NFL contact when push came to shove.

Bryant McKinnie has an excuse for everything, I don't buy the "back" injury he is selling for not showing up to camp on time What happens after he flunks his conditioning test tomorrow?
Baltimore Ravens veteran offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie plans to report to training camp Monday after missing the first three days of practice for personal reasons, according to representatives of the former Pro Bowl blocker.
McKinnie, 32, has been dealing with an apparent back problem and had his chiropractor contact team officials.

Nobody posted this, so lets all have a laugh courtesy of everyone's favorite plastic surgery case, Jerry Jones, shall we?
Quote:
“I’ve been here 23 years. I’ve been here when it was glory hole days and I’ve been here when it wasn’t,” Jones said. “And, so, having said that, I want me some glory hole. So I have that perspective.”
