I used to use MM, I went to Airdrie Insurance, after calling around and getting quotes from 10 insurance companies. Airdrie Insurance got my the same coverage for $1400 less with Impact... Was well worth a day of my time calling around.

They will sell you a policy, but if you have a major claim you can bet they will look into your application to see if there is a reason to deny your claim.

Great advice.

Never lie to your insurance company. I bet they secretely hope you lie so they can deny you once you need to make a major claim.

Hey,

Another great tool that helps you compare your insurance prices is:

<a href="https://tools.insureye.com/pct/pricing/">Insurance price comparison</a>

However you could also look at customer satisfaction or claim experience instead of just price.
Happy hunting.

I found Western Direct pretty good and easy to deal with.

As long as your claim isn't suspicious and you don't say something that is in direct conflict with your policy, most adjusters don't go looking for it. But be an ass to the adjuster and you can bet they will be more than happy to dig deeper.

I ended up just going through Intact again, I raised the deductibles and it dropped the price down to $4100/year. The TD policy actually was $2900/year, only problem was they wanted the money up front. Oh well, maybe I'll save some money and go with them next year.

That's probably the case with your average claim worth a few thousand dollars. However once you get a claim into the 6 figure range, they will have a look to make sure that you did actually qualify for the policy.

And that is when you need it. If your claim for $4000 is denied; you can make that up. However if you now have a house payment to make up; that will mess up your life.

I was amazed at PC Financial.

Had wonderful rates with TD Meloche, but PC Financial cut them by a full 40%. Excellent coverage for dirt cheap.

I got a quote from Touchstone insurance, they advertise on Beyond.ca. Saved quite a bit over my supposed group rate I get through work from TD insurance-check them out.
