Tell the CP that you need to keep the integrity of your license, they will usually remove the demerits. I have done this with every officer issued violation I have received.

Most recently I couldn't find my registration and insurance documentation, after being pulled over, 2 large fines. I waited for about an hour and a half to be seen by the prosecutor. Easiest $400 I have ever made.

Except he's trying to fight it via proxy. It'll cost more to drive to Calgary and take a day off work, I would assume.

no big deal since i don't live in calgary anymore but it is too bad the cps gets such a free pass with their behavior/budget (not in reference to my specific experience above but in reference to my last 10yrs in the city)
lol, the no no finger makes you hate cops?

I think 'Points' charges at least $200. They will represent you. 'Points' may require you to have your car speedometer tested by a certified testing shop, which costs about $80. The fine may be reduced from speeding down to faulty instrument which carries a fine of around $100 and no demerits. This info is from past personal experience about 7 years ago with a similar ticket.
