Nice work by Frasor to get out of that inning, and as a bonus get Johnson out of the game without giving up the lead.

Hard to call it a steal when the team that traded him won the World Series based on large part with two guys that they got for Rasmus. Looks more like it is working out for both teams (although with Rasmus I wouldn't hold my breath that it lasts).
I guess glad to see it is working out for you guys but as a Cards fan certainly glad him and his dad are off the team and plying their BS somewhere else.

His dad hasn't done anything or been in the news once from Toronto.
The Blue Jays literally gave away spare parts and Cory Patterson, who is just god awful. Rzepcynski was decent for 2 playoff series, and his having a truly awful 2012 season. Right now the Cardinals have nothing to show for that trade, but they did win a World Series, how much those players contributed to it can be argued, but hey, it's a world series ring and they got some relief pitching help.
From a Jays perspective, we gave away barely anything and now have a player at one of the most skilled positions in baseball, for a long time.

Once from Toronto is the key phrase with his Dad. He had issues with multiple people in the Cards organization and that likely wasn't going to change. Perhaps the deal to TO made him and/or his son realize what they were doing wasn't the best thing for him.
The Cards still have Rzepczynski and Rasmus leaving was very much addition by subtraction. Getting him off the team with his attitude was a good thing and he has been easy to replace both last year and this year.
As for it being argued how much they contributed no it really can't be. The bullpen was huge for the Cards and Rzepcynski was a huge part of that. Without making that deal and improving the bullpen and getting Jackson there is no way the Cards make the play-offs let alone win the WS the way they did.
I am glad that you are happy with Rasmus but the Cards are much better off because of making that deal and much better off without Rasmus on their team.

If your a Cardinals fan, you have every right to be happy. You got a world series ring and even if there's nothing to show for the trade now, it's still a world series ring. Clearly someone with the potential of Rasmus at such a skilled position, something would have had to of happened for him to be on the trading block and the Jays did their homework on him and he's been nothing but great since coming here. No question a change of scenery was needed and maybe it took that to mature.
From a Cards perspective, getting Jackson was a big part in that run. Again, the Cardinals got a ring and they can always have that and had some contribution from that trade. If you're a Jays fan though, that means so little, for a team that is thinking long term. You found a way to find value for two relief pitchers, Corey Patterson and a pitching prospect for Colby Rasmus. It worked out well for the Cardinals and Jays, from the Jays side of things being able to get a CF with this much upside for what they traded for, is still a steal.

Back to the Jays, in last month (since May 20) Colby Rasmus has higher OPS than Hamilton, McCutcheon, Trout and Granderson. The Jays have had the best 1-4 in baseball for a good run here. If the Jays can re-sign EE, and add another bat, suddenly the Jays lineup could be one of the best in baseball

Last June the Marlins were a disaster. 12 months later, it's the same thing, as I think their record is 2-15 on the month now. Just their luck that they'd have to face the three guys who are the most major league calibre on a decimated Jays pitching staff. Granted the way their month is going they'd play Chavez and lose the game 16-14 in the 9th.
I think they won three games last June. Looks like 3 could be in the works again. Well not that bad, they did win 2 of their first three...since that they're 2-15.

And I can only hope the fans continue not to support them and Jeffery Loria can slowly continue to sunburn under that Florida sun.

I love how you had to get one good jab at Rasmus in. Yeah, highly touted 25 year olds who've already had .859 OPS seasons never bounce back. This is all just a little hot streak and Rasmus will continue sucking shortly.
It's funny how the whole thing with his dad has been a complete non-issue in Toronto. That couldn't have been media-created BS to deflect the heat off of La Russa at all, right? There can't be actual on-field reasons why Colby was failing (high leg kick last season anyone? Why didn't genious Tony fix that?) - it has to be some scandal so ignorant beat writers don't have to try to break down what's happening on the field.

Well hard to fix a lot of things when the guy refuses help from the coach, manager and super stud player.
Why would they need to deflect heat off of a 3-time WS winner, 3rd all-time in wins and has shown that he can work with all sorts of players and teams?
This is the same father that called up radio stations in TO on his own to talk about he is not meddling and doesn't crave the media.
I mean I guess it is possible that the St. Louis media, players and management lied or it is possible that Rasmus' dad was too involved and decided to take a step back when he saw where it ended up getting his son.

I had never heard of this before. Not saying you're wrong, but it definitely surprises me that he was such a cancer with the Cards. Just seeing the way he has acted in his short time with the Jays he seems like a pretty quiet, likeable player.
