lol @ liberals being the con artists. The Liberals and Conservatives have both shown the second they get into power they turn their back on election promises and can equally engage in political corruption.

Rob Anders may be an idiot, and I think we can all agree on that, but he's done nothing wrong that would allow the party to refuse or rescind his nomination/election. Rules are rules... or at least they are in the CP of Canada.
No, it's a problem with the national leadership of the CPC and/or Harper himself who has remained fiercely loyal to Anders for years. The local Conservative riding association has attempted to oust Anders and nominate an alternate candidate (they even put forward Alison Redford in one case) in his place, but it's been blocked by the national party each time.

Nineteen members of Calgary West MP Rob Anders' riding association have resigned en masse, citing interference from the Conservative Party.

The 32 member board had been planning to ask Conservative Party members at the riding's upcoming annual general meeting whether they wanted to hold a nomination contest. But the party's national council stepped in, saying it has already declared Anders as the candidate for the next federal election, and has threatened to take control of the annual general meeting of the constituency association.

There isn't a high level politician in the country that I trust. You don't get to that level of the trade by being "honest". It's a slimy business for slimy people.

Having said that, the only thing that bothers me specifically about Rae is all the NDP baggage. I want to support a centrist party and I don't get that vibe from him (the same reason I won't vote for a Harper Tory party - too much Reform Party baggage). I typically abstain anyhow, and Rae as Liberal leader won't do anything to win my vote.

I can't say I'm at all surprised. Ethics and integrity were never the hallmark of the Liberal Party.
Are you serious with this? Did Harper pay you personally to post this? I wouldn't put it past him.

Not surprised, it happens all the time in politics. Does anyone remember how City Council elected Don Hartman to be mayor when Ralph Klein left to become the MLA for Calgary Elbow because he promised not to run for mayor in October 1989, and then he did? Or when Peter McKay promised David Orchard that the PCs would not merge with the CA? I could go on.

I don't see it as not being able to trust the Liberal party, more like not trust Bob Rae.

From the article you quoted...

Quote:
...the only way incumbent MPs can be pushed out of their ridings is if two-thirds of constituency members vote to hold a nomination race. No riding hit that mark so all sitting Conservative MPs, including Anders, were declared candidates for the next election.
Thats the rule and unfortunately, those members in Anders's riding couldn't get 2/3rds of the riding members to vote for a nomination race. It sucks... yes... but thats the rule. The rule wasn't made just to keep RA as a Conservative candidate. I'm sure Harper would love to see him gone.

Of course he did... just like he paid Andrew Coyne to write the article.

Of course I'm against Bill C30 but I find it ironic that the site you link to has three active trackers on it. According to AVG Do Not Track it is blocking Google +1, Twitter Button and Google Analytics. I'm not saying these are that dangerous, I just like my privacy.

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2402146,00.asp

and the pcmag website has 7 trackers just for more irony.

Heh, I still read that and it comes across as a sci fiction writer with an axe to grind who's pretty much a nobody.

I kind of doubt if Trudeau runs. At least in the next election. He'll let someone else try to rebrand the party, do all the footwork, and when they're ready to form government he'll run.

That's what I figure, the good leaders want to see the party basically get burned to the ground so that they can rebrand it and rebuild it and dump the red liberal component.

I would expect that Mulcair will start losing ground as his honey moon period fades away and he's exposed as the unlikable lunatic that he is.

I would expect that unless something significant happens the cons will get another majority in the next election unless they really stub their toes.

but if Rae takes the Liberal's it gives Harper a lot of ammunition.

Mulcair has already given Harper all the ammunition that he can use.
