These errors are getting ridiculous. That was an incredibly basic play for Davis.

At the game...some embarrassing plays out in the field, and Henderson is having issues finishing guys off.

The Rays are such a good team. Have to think it will be them vs Texas in the ALCS this year.

That's one of the worst strike calls I've ever seen at my life. That ump should be fined or suspended or fired. You simply cannot call players out on bogus strike calls because you're emotional about the previous call.

Absolutely brutal.

Lawrie might get some games for throwing his helmet down at the ump. However those were 2 awful calls for strikes. Both were easily balls.

Yeah, Lawrie will get the book thrown at him for hitting the ump with his helmet. But I want to see something done about that strike out call. Completely bogus.

Lawrie will definitely be suspended. He absolutely needs to keep his head in that situation.

Someone also threw a water bottle the ump as he was being escorted off...I think it might have actually hit him.

Wow...just wow. The only reason that was called strike three was...ummm I have no idea how that was a strike. Or the second one.
What kind of oversight is there with the umps?

And did you see all the umps pointing at the guy that threw the water...nothing like fake power lol

Man, I missed it, but was listening on the radio and normally they're really even headed and they were 100% on the side of Lawrie losing it (but not in favor of his helmet hitting the guy). These types of umps should be hung by the balls. Power driven baffoons.

Lawrie will get a few games but I don't think it will be excessive. He didn't throw his helmet at the ump directly, and I think the helmet hitting him was just a byproduct of his tantrum which otherwise wouldn't have been anything more than ejection worthy. Definitely a little out of control there though.

That being said, two strikes in a row visibly outside the zone and the second strike was half a foot outside. I think that while Lawrie should face discipline for the tantrum, if any of us performed as badly at our jobs as the ump, we would face repercussions and he should as well.

Should've thrown it at the ump's head. Minimize the damage and whatnot.

Seriously, though, I'm tired of watching the officials in near every sport botch every call in the book with no consequences, and I'm sure the players are too. Maybe they'll clean up their act after some player goes Rocket Richard at an ump on national TV.

What I absolutely hate about MLB umps, is they go on absolute powertrips. The love getting revenge, and the ump union sticks up for the stupidity. I seen just seen the highlight of Lawrie's helmet throw, and you can read the umps lips right after, yelling at Lawrie, pointing to where he was hit saying "you f'ing idiot!". They love to agitate. I'd like to see these guys get publically shamed for such calls. I have no sympathy for him getting the beer dumped on him. Too bad it didn't get on his face.

Also on a side note, though I'm not a fan of Lawrie's over-the-top loudmouth attitude, I absolutely like stuff like this where you gotta stick up for yourself. Man I'm really ticked about the idiot ump.

Yeah, as much as we like to cry about NHL officiating, the umpiring in MLB is far worse. It's like you get rewarded for making blatantly wrong calls and throwing people who challenge you on it out ofthe game.

He may not have meant to hit the ump but it certainly didn't take a weird bounce to hit him. Many others have dealt with crap calls and not reacted like a baby.

But at least he didn't need any stitches after his temper tantrum!

pitch 5 called strike

no excuse for throwing his helmet and I guess he gets a deserved 5 games, but the ump shouldn't completely get away with calling that a strike

Just got home from my flight home from Toronto. Saw the pitches, if the CFL can fire referees in public, then MLB can fine/fire umpires. They were brutal calls, and looks like umpire decided no matter where the "strikeout" pitch was the Lawrie was out. No excuse for Lawrie to act like that, but I can completely understand it.
