I agree with a bunch of people here to see if you can make it to Krakow. It was pretty cool. As mentioned earlier, the salt mine was awesome, very different.

I think Auschwitz isn't too far from Krakow either. It's a very intense place to visit.

Go to a bar, and try to go shot for shot with one of the locals.

I was there the summer before last. Although I preferred Krakow to Poland, Warsaw is still worth the visit.

Some photos from my visit there:

And here's a couple from the salt mine that a few people have already mentioned:

And last, but not least, my favourite beer from when I was there:

Gdansk was my fav part of Poland... really colourful. Krakow was nice too, but I might have expected too much. Warsaw I didn't expect much, but I had a great time there.

You're wrong!
While Zywiec was pertty darn good, Warka Strong was by far the best beer there, and is probalby in my top 3 beers of all time.
I was so happy when I found out they sold it at Co-Op

Can't recall trying that one. But I can't remember half the names of the beers I tried. That's why I took a picture of the one I liked. Easier to remember that way!

I actually didn't try any beers I outright disliked though. And for around $1/pint, how can you really go wrong with anything?

The food was also amazing. I really liked this soup called Zur (or Zurek in some places). Delicious stuff. I've since tried it at Polish restaurants here, but I can never get it as good as it was there.

Go to Krakow. Women are drop dead gorgeous everywhere you walk, well girls 18-25. I've never been more floored by the amount of good looking girls than when I went to Krakow and I've been to the Czech Republic.

It's also a really beautiful city and a bus ride from the salt mines (which are really cool) and Auschwitz (what an experience, though pretty depressing).

It's struck me that Polish women always have big boobs. So enjoy that as much as you can!

If you wanted to properly do Warsaw, Krakow and the salt mine, would you say a 7 day trip would be decent, if you plan it out well in advance.

i'd argue it would be pretty rushed but could be done. you'd likely need one day for wieliczka (salt mine), half a day for travel between warsaw and krakow. from there, i'd split the time between the two cities fairly evenly.
