Wait, what? I follow baseball pretty casually so maybe this is old news.
What is with the AL West only having 4 teams and the NL central having 6. Is that a typo?
How is that remotely fair?

The MLB didn't want 15 teams in each league as it would make scheduling more difficult when inter-league play isn't going on. Houston is moving to the AL West next year though and I think they are just going to just have inter-league play all year round.

49 year old Jamie Moyer will be the second pitcher up in the Rockies rotation to start the season. If he picks up a win, he'll be the oldest player to do so. He first played in the majors in 1986. He sat out all of last year recovering from Tommy John surgery, and sometimes runs a fastball up to 80 MPH!

“@jaysonst: Still no word on who's throwing out first pitch at Marlins Park. But MLB has scheduled a 5-minute standing O when he or she is announced.”
Any guesses?

^ I certainly hope it's not someone patriachical or military patriot based, though it is the States and probably will end up with one or the other. Who's done something extraordinary enough to have a 5 minute O?

Trayvon Martin's father and/or mother...? Wild guess.
Edit: After thinking about that for a few minutes I can't see it happening at all. I going to go with Marco Rubio instead. Or maybe Obama.

It was Mohammed Ali, that guy is not looking good and he obviously couldn't throw the pitch. And the fans certainly didn't give him the expected 5 minute standing O either. As much as I respect Ali that was pretty lame, IMO.

should have had Will Smith do it.
Not only did he play Ali in a movie, but he also has a song called Miami.
That's what you call a win win

So Marlins Park
Yay or Nay?
I'm inclined to think they took the worst parts of the Rogers Centre, and combined the worst parts of Olympic Stadium, mixed them together, barfed out the building and then added crappy tacky decorations

I like the layout of the park, and the overall look minus the green walls and stupid HR celebration thing they have.

I love the Marlins uniforms, very clean, colorful, and appropriate for the city.
I'm still not over the fact that the opening game isn't in Cincinnati any longer.

Players can't be happy about the 418' center field wall. Stanton his 2 400' bombs and were routine fly outs. Not even warning track power....... Glad I have no Marlins in fantasy. Mabye Miami will follow in the footsteps of Mets and Tigers and realize that just doesn't work and have to move the fences in in a couple of years.
