Trailer looks pretty good. With all the tree jumping I hope they improved the ledge jumping moves. There were quite a few times where I would try to jump from a ledge and he would wind up jumping over the ledge to hang on then you have to climb up and try again. On trees this could be brutal since it is ledges.
Figured I'd bump this old thread, since the VG thread is getting blown up by nothing but AC stuff the past couple days, which would probably be the theme the next couple weeks.

The first part is fun but there isn't a lot to do outside the main quests, I have read that there are very little side quests until you progress to the main character portion. Having said that I'm enjoying the game so far, played some games on the boat from England to Boston and that was pretty addicting.
Ya its definitely a slow start. Despite that I was loving it the first couple sequences, really liked Haytham and the build-up to the story was great.
Spoiler!
But by about sequence 3 my interest was waning a bit, not much else to do but straight storyline. In sequence 4 now and its finally opening up, I'm teenage Connor & learning to hunt.
Man does it pay off when you finally get to the Frontier as Connor, loving all the tree climbing & hunting training missions. When I first read about it I thought "tracking" clues would be kinda pointless & just filler, but with greatly shrinking the search zone, its actually pretty useful. Gonna be awesome when I'm finally full grown Connor, whenever that is..
--No major story spoiler above or anything, I'm only in sequence 4. Just trying not to give even minor things away. I like to go in fresh like Frank Costanza with movies so I'll pay this thread the same courtesy.
Is there any real advantage to buying it online vs. at the store? Store gives me a copy I can either trade/sell at a later date or lend to friends, online I guess it is always available to me?
Can't lose that copy..

Just got to Sequence 6, pretty much where the game finally turns into AC3. Just got the rope dart, been having way too much fun with that.
Frontier finally unlocked beyond that one part early, maaan is it sweet. I think I could hunt/explore all day in here..
EDIT: Haha I just figured out that you can actually step on & squash rats in the streets. Makes a good squishy sound when you do it too. That's gruesome, not to mention hilarious.
I posted my thoughts in the video game thread, I'll throw them here too. Not too high on it so far.
Granted I haven't got past the point where it turns into it's "real game" first. But that in itself is a problem... I've been playing for two and a half hours and I'm not even the main character yet. It's two minute cutscene, 30 seconds of gameplay, repeat, for two hours. I'm sure it gets better when it opens up, but why start so dull and dreary? Ugh.
Not to mention the bugs. Worse than Skyrim so far. I've had a gun that I needed to pick up to complete a mission not appear, guns not fire, a group of red coats glitch out while they were chasing a guy during a story mission, a horse get stuck in a trough, a wolf get stuck in a tree, and a character's facial animation just not work at all in a cut scene. IN TWO AND A HALF HOURS. At the start of the game, when I'm not even exploring the open world. And yes, I downloaded the day one patch. It must've been downright unplayable without it.
Not overly impressed so far. Obviously I'll give it a lot more playtime but it just feels rushed and unfinished and poorly executed so far. Hopefully I get to actually play as the cool, advertised main character soon..
I'm currently on Sequence 6, didn't play it for 6+ hours like last night, but I'm liking it so far. Not really into the whole Conner story yet, but I'm liking the new death animations and combat.
I also find Boston to be a bit bland. Not as exciting and fun as Florence/Venice.
Cube, you playing it on the PS3? I've been lurking on the Ubisoft AC boards a bit looking for hints/easter eggs & I've read a swak of people complaining about framerate/pop-in issues, and it seems its almost exclusively on PS3 versions. I've got XBox & there's the odd issue here & there (nothing worse than I experience in R* games though), but other than that its smooth as hell.
And Justin agreed about Boston, it doesn't have near the colour/life as Florence/Venice. I kind of expected that going in, I think their main "city" in AC3 that they put their focus on is the Frontier.
EDIT: And agreed Cube about how long it takes to build up. I actually was loving it the first couple sequences, was just enjoying the story, but by Seq 3 I found I was getting a little bored. IMO it takes too long to become Assassin Connor, not sure why they did that, but once you do the game really opens up (maps, side missions, etc).
To say that this new entry starts slow would be like saying that Hurricane Sandy was a bit of a rain shower. Its disregard for the audience’s time is obscene. Here’s pretty much all you need to know about the first day you might spend playing Creed III: The 17th mission you undertake is called “Training Begins.” Prior to that, hours are pissed away, mostly on a series of go-here-kill-this errands in which you play as a rather bland fellow who has a connection to the eventual protagonist. Throughout this crushingly boring prelude, your background and motivations are vague, in order to preserve an eventual plot twist—one that packs no emotional oomph, given the game’s failure to inspire any strong emotion about its characters one way or the other. Thus, in the time it takes to watch Lawrence Of Arabia in its entirety, Creed III sets up one joke with a lousy punchline.
Only then does training begin—although it would be more accurate to say that training continues, because Creed III never really stops holding your hand. The majority of the missions in the main quest consist of cutscene after cutscene, broken up by menial tasks in which you walk to a prescribed checkpoint and either stab something or press the B button to “interact” with it. Worse yet, many of the menial tasks are just cutscenes in disguise, like the eavesdropping missions in which you must stand nearby while you listen to a conversation. That pretty much sums up the Assassin’s Creed III main-quest experience: You shut up and sit down while plastic-looking computer people blather screenwriting clichés at each other.
John Teti should go back to his CoD, ADHD-friendly games then.. Definitely a slower start, but I appreciated the build-up of the story.
I'm still in Sequence 6 because I'm having too much fun exploring the Frontier/Homestead and other side missions, man I love this game. Disappointed with the QTE's with predators, but aside from that hunting is awesome, I love stalking a bear or elk through the trees and then leap off to shove a blade through its neck. Can't believe how smooth tree running is.
Anyone experiencing major glitch issues? Mine's been great but I hear people playing on PS3 (I have 360) are having huge visual problems.
Just picked this up, waiting for something to patch so I can play.
Here we go 10 hours of prologue!!
