Pssh all they need to do is print a single trillion dollar bill, then they can just fit the money in a guy's wallet and ask for change later.
Edit: Also, since we're talking about Greenland as well, I'd just like to throw out there that the spelling of Greenland should be changed to Groenland as per their native tongue, and that we pronounce it the way it's spelled, mainly because it makes me giggle.

It is interesting that a foreign country would be interesting in adopting the loonie when it's far less liquid than the USD or Euro, and is tied directly to oil prices (which Iceland isn't really an exporter of).
That said, it doesn't hurt us in anyway. Go for it if they want to.

Actually VERY correct. The recent correlation of CAD/WTI is -0.91, which is crazy correlated.

You can't get a more correct correlation in the financial world.

You do know that "tied directly" does not = "crazy correlated" right??

Last time I checked the Cdn dollar wasn't pegged to WTI price. Thus, there is no "direct tie". I never suggested there isn't a correalation between the two.

Are you proposing a fowl based currency? An exclusively duck-centred monetary system?
A 20 loonie bill would leave no room for the Queen, it has to have a picture of 20 loons.
The world will think we've gone Daffy.

TBQH I'm not sure but as it stands now I think they are still British subjects. It really wouldn't surprise me if they use the pound or US Dollar. Werent we close to annexing them 10 years ago or so?

I think they asked Canada to annex them once, but Cretien or Mulroney or someone turned them down. Bummer.

If that's true Mulroney and/or Chretien need a swift boot to the coin purse.

I think we need to make Cuba a province first.

I'm more about the Rum and Cigars and maybe getting a little dig in on the Southies.
Not to mention, if we had Iceland and Cuba we could engineer the hottest women in the world!

It was Mulroney and it wasn't a bad decision. The cost of taking on a 3rd world country and providing them with the social net that they would be entitled to as Canadians would have been a big burden.
Paul Martin actually tried to re-open the cause but at that time, things had improved enough in Turks and Caicos that they were no longer interested.
