Just some thoughts, I wish you, and KFF, the best on your MC'ing events.
Thanks Shawnski.

I'm actually not really nervous at all. Might be a different story when the big day comes, but I'm pretty confident (so far).

Usually at weddings I've already had a couple cold ones before the reception, gonna be a little weird being sober until the dance starts.

Well, maybe I'll just have a couple. ............

Well one good one that an emcee did at a wedding that is PG enought to go on any time is.

Take the mike, ask the bride to place her hand on the table, than have the groom place his on top. Than proceed to tell the guests that they just witnessed last time the groom will ever have the upper hand in the relationship.

If all is going bad, just yell San Dimas Highschool Football rules and bolt out the door.
Ataris rule
That's great but what the hell does it have to do with anything?

When you stand up to the mike, reach into your left jacket pocket, pull out a folded piece of paper, and state........" Hi, my name is _____________, and I am an alcoholic.....". Then pause, look at the back of the page, look flustered, and put it back into the pocket, while saying, " sorry, that is Tuesday night's speech." I have used it at a couple of weddings, and it broke the ice.

I jsut MC'ed and was the best man for my best buddy's wedding, it was a great time. Basically I used alot of self depriciating humour to fill time(i'm chubby, single, gay etc)
Does a double take. Not that there's anything wrong with that. :P
The funniest moment of the night is when the bride took the mic and tried to hook me up with one of her girlfriends, the groom almost fell out of his chair laughing so hard (the only people who didn't laugh were my folks...)

lots of great openers!

this is what I was thinking (Bride = Christa, Groom = Will) opeing with this:

So ughhh Christa, like what's up with this Will guy? Is it serious? I mean what about *us*? I thought we might have had something? Wasn't there a spark? I thought we had a .... connection!

thought it might be funny
