Hopefully they'll do something for you for the cost of living differential (if there is one, I assume you've done your research on what the costs are there). The few times I've either been offered a move (to the US bleh) or known people who have been offered a move, the company didn't do ANYTHING for cost of living differential, and the move would have left the people making far less in the end due to higher costs of living.

And then the companies are surprised when no one takes them up on it lol.
I have done my research, and I have seen that Std of living there is about 7% higher....EXCEPT housing is about 30% more, so I am going to ask for a living expense of 30% of what I pay here in Victoria right now.

As I undersand its pretty pricey to live in Amsterdam, between the currency exchange, the significantly higher cost of housing and food and the fact that a decent beer will cost you between 5-7 Euro you'll need a raise.

Oh, and drink Grolsch. Heineken is for tourists, you order one of those and they'll all know!

Are you considering having a car in Amsterdam? I had one the first time I visited and I noted two very important things:

1) You dont need it.
2) Its a huge pain in the ass. Parking is outrageous, fuel is astronomical and if it breaks down you're better off to just push it into the Amstel river.

Dont have a car.

Theres a lot of different things that come into play there, if the company pays for it, then I dont believe it is.

Make a note of what sleep zone you will be moving to so you won't accidentally call back home and wake some one up.
