I actually don't think the panda picture thing was available on the day I was there. I only read about it when I was leaving the facility.

How can it be sadder than this? Idiot chinese people spray painting their chow chows to look like a panda. Idiots! well i guess its better than eating them.

You could hold the panda cubs if you were willing to pony up the cash. I don't remember the cost, but I think it was hundreds of dollars.
I think I went to the same place as you (It was in Chendu). I think it cost me $100to hold the panda for like 20 seconds and get a bunch of photos. Probably wasn't worth the $100 but I thought it was pretty cool.

Steve, how about you exchange those Pandas for the Canadians held in China's jails for their humanitarian activism?

I'll admit to not knowing anything about this, but if a Canadian citizen goes to another country to protest against that government and gets locked up for it is it really our problem?

Surely they knew that ending up in jail was a very real possibility when dealing with a government like the Chinese.

Please enlighten me if I am being totally ignorant though, as I said I'm not familiar with this.

I'm 'meh' about the pandas, but I just want to point out that the penguins go on display at the zoo next week:

Huseyincan Celil worked to promote human rights in China in the 1990s. He was forced to flee and the UN and Canada gave him refugee status. He became a Canadian citizen. He went back to Uzbekistan to get the rest of his family out but Uzbekistan deported him back to China where he was given a life sentence.

Yeah, I remember that song from the commercial.

There was a line about Panda-monium. And also something like "so if you / Pan-da see them / blah blah blah."

No, they're like a legal Mafia.

I wish the US would get its collective heads our of it's you know what. I would much rather we trade and strengthen a country that shares a similar moral compass to us.

Before I get flamed with Gitmo references, you can forget it. The US and China are two totally different beasts. If I had to choose between the way lesser of two evils, I know which one I'd pick 10/10 times.

Also, to be clear, I am referencing their government, and not the people of China.

I also went to the Chengdu breeding centre when I lived there.
They do this for like an hour max a day:

And sleep the rest.

Some very good advice I also got at the breeding centre:

But hey, Harper is busy ensuring kids will be able to go see a real life sad panda.
It is like capt Kirk being involved with a landing party........
