would you not expect to pay $600 or less if you booked via westjet?
Why not just call westjet's main customer service number and tell them waht you are thinking of doing. Would you not also need to ensure that all guests are at the same hotel in vegas.

It would be a lot cheaper to do group rates on a normally scheduled flight. You're basically playing for the plane to be there, your playing for the aircrew, the use of airport personal as needed fueling etc with a charter, plus specially arranged take off and landing rights, etc, Your also covering maintenance for those flight hours and the rotation of a plane out of fleet.

Wow 4 years ago? Ha ha It's funny what you remember from certain posters I guess. My memory is that this went down just a short time ago. Anyway, I meant it when I wished you well. Marriage #2 worked out great in my case and I'm sure it will in yours.

Update: Heard from Westjet and my Dream crashed and burned real quick.
$125,000 for round trip plane charter , I wonder if that comes with a bottle of lube too?

that's a lot of flight time flying without anyone on it. It's your job to pay for that

This. I had called around for a charter for 25 people and was explained roughly the same thing. In this case it would have been a smaller plane and would require refueling half way. Considering the plane, staff and other costs we couldn't control; it quickly turned out to be a pipe dream for us.
I know it isn't as cool, but a group deal may get you closer to manageable numbers. Unfortunately when we looked into it; it was cheaper to have everybody make their own arrangements.

As I recall the guys that started westjet got their idea because they chartered planes all the time to fly over western canada. Seems that chartering planes is a very expensive.....

I was going to tell you why it would be way more expensive to charter, but it looks like everyone else pretty much has it covered. You either pay for an empty airplane back and forth when your group isn't on it, or you pay to have a 50 million dollar airplane out of service for a few days, as well as the crew to play in the casinos on your dime as they wait for you.
Buy just buying tickets then all the people that are buying seats going the opposite direction are essentially covering part of the costs that you are on the hook for when chartering.
Congrats on the wedding!
