The whole stay on your resort thing is true... a couple Canadians in the past few years have been killed on their resort??
Back on track, the resort has cameras and although not in the elevator I am sure they can put 2 and 2 together. Hears to hoping that they catch the SOB who did this and throw him in the middle of a drug war.
****Before flaming begins, i want to re iterate that my opinion is of the media making it sound more dangerous than it is. Yes sick things like this have happened but I believe it happens in many areas and Mexico is a better story.

From the Canadian government.....
Canadians travelling to Mexico should exercise a high degree of caution due to a deteriorating security situation in many parts of the country. While most major tourist areas have not been affected by the extreme levels of violence in the northern border region, it is highly advisable to travel to Mexico by air (please refer to our official warning for the Mexico-United States border). High levels of criminal activity, as well as occasional demonstrations and protests, remain a concern throughout the country.
Presidential elections are scheduled for July 1, 2012. In the period leading up to and during the elections, Canadians are advised to remain vigilant, avoid large crowds and demonstrations, exercise caution, follow the advice of local authorities, and monitor local media.
......................
OFFICIAL WARNING: Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada advises against non-essential travel to the border areas between Mexico and the United States, due to continuously high levels of violence linked to organized crime in those areas.
Canadians should avoid crossing Mexico’s northern border by land and should do so only if it is absolutely necessary, after making appropriate arrangements to ensure their personal safety. Shootouts, attacks, and illegal roadblocks may occur at any time. Criminals especially target SUVs and full-size pickup trucks for theft and carjacking along highways in the states of Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Baja California, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Sonora, and Sinaloa.
Travellers should also avoid travelling by land to or through these border states and should do so only if it is absolutely necessary, and after making appropriate arrangements to ensure their personal safety.

Any husband knows when their Wife is not in the bed.
He claims he didn't know she left until he woke up in the morning. Somewhere between 5-7hrs later that is kind of odd.
They left for Mexico on a last minute deal. Which is nothing unusual. Only 5-6 hours after their arrival later she is found dead. A blood trail near the room to the elevator. Police reported.
There are no camera's in the elevator and police believe due the blood pool and splatter that is where she was murdered.
I think there is going to be allot of questions and hopefully her family and the police finds the answers.
An Absolute heinous criminal act smashing every bone in her face and leaving her in a coma. Definatly whoever did it fully expected intended her to die. Really sad.

The husband is definitely suspicious, but his name has not come up in any investigation report yet, that I find odd

My wife leaves the bed to go to the washroom, get a drink from the kitchen, or even goes to our son's room to sleep with him if I snore too loud.
I don't notice she's left until the next morning.
The husband may eventually be a suspect, but the reason being he was asleep the whole time isn't a cause fir suspician

Based on past history I would be counting on the Mexican police on finding answers.

I cannot think of a better place to off your wife than Mexico, assuming you have the 40 or 50 grand to pay for being totally cleared (although if you are at least a reasonably competant psychopath and don't make it completely obvious you did it I'm sure you can get that down to just 10 grand or so for the local detective and police chief).

I would love to have the time to go to Jamaica, but there is no way you can describe it as safe.

This one sounds like a domestic thing or that she took off on his own late at night for whatever reason.

Or they got in a fight, he pounded her face in, then dumped her in the elevator to make it look like a random assault.

The other part of the story that is so upsetting is that this poor girl was near death and was turned away for treatment at two private clinics before a hospital would look at her.
I am done with Mexico. Not going back.

I stayed at this resort just 2 months ago. And I am probably a relatively deep sleeper. But each night we slept with the patio window open and the crashhing of the ocean is so load that my wife could have got up and watched tv while blow-drying her hair and I wouldnt hear it.

Am I the only one who has gotten up in the middle of the night to grab a drink from the hotel vending machine?

The past two nights my pregnant wife has gotten out of bed in the middle of the night, for an hour each time. I wouldnt have known if she didn't just tell me about it this morning.
Our bed is starting to sink in the middle too, and shifts when you move around (a brand new King is on its way!).
Sometimes people sleep heavily.

I have no idea that my wife gets out of bed to feed my screaming baby in the middle of the night most of the time. If I was drunk, I would have zero chance of noticing she was gone.

A fund has been set up to help. You can donate at any TD Canadatrust branch, or at Active Back To Health in the Chinook professional building. There is also a fundraiser in Banff on Monday: http://www.facebook.com/events/175113172594411/

My completely uninformed opinion: don't blame the Mexicans.... unless the husband is a Mexican.

Two things:
1) If it happened in the resort there's a chance it was another guest of the hotel
2) These tragedies don't seem to be coming out of other sunny 5-star resort locations (Cuba, The Dominican, etc)

i'd put way more faith into the Cuban government cracking down on these types of incidents if they started occurring than the incredibly corrupt Mexican government. that's the worst part about all these stories, there has been zero justice for the families
