Thanks, folks.

We got a dehumidifier, because that seemed to be the cheapest solution to try first, and placed it in the living room. Those widows have mostly cleared right up, except for about two inches of moisture around the edges. I realize the weather has warmed somewhat, but it's still nice to be able to see outside and I'm glad something is working.

A new furnace will probably be next, considering the fan is broken and will not automatically engage, so its always left on.

I don't know if putting a dehumidifier in the basement and another part of upstairs makes sense as some of those windows are still fairly wet. But if the problem in those areas, especially basement (walkout) persists, I think that's what we'll do first.

I've been reading about the need for humidity with hardwood floors. She has solid maple floors and has no humidifier, even on the furnace, and the floors seem to be in pristine shape. That and the window condensation makes me think the humidity levels are fairly high, and what the source of the humidity in the home is.

Just another little tid bit RE: Humidity in the home, keep in mind that cooking and showering play a big part.

Exhaust fans are your friend. After a shower, let that fan run for a good 20 minutes and always use your hood fan over the cook top.

If you are looking at new windows, 40K seems ridiculously high. I put all new windows in my house for $15K - used Western Windows and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

Wow, how many windows? She got a quote from All Weather Windows for (IIRC) 22 windows, not sure what type of window exactly.

I replaced all of my windows with Gentek...

Installer was a family friend who runs a 1-2 man outfit.

Probably around 15 K total in price and nice windows as well.
