Slightly off topic... anyone remember "Born to Beat the Lions", a Stamps song, from way, way back?

Sure do!...woulda been about 1979? Coach Huf was QB, Willi Armstead, Reggie Lewis. They actaully had a great team whatever year that was. They did end up beating the Lions, but couldn't beat the powerhouse esks in the west final. I remember pouting for days lol.

To this day if ever I hear or think of that song, it takes me back to the Stamps version.

Do you have anything to do with the Stamps song, When the going gets tough, the Stamps get going? That is the SOS song I remember.

We did the "We're Called The Stamps..." rap live on the air and then recorded it the next day at CKXL. Management saw that it was getting popular and hired professional writers/singers to do a new song. They did the same thing after "Flames Go All The Way" became #1.

Part of the lyrics from what I remember:

"We're called the the Stamps
We play the game
Without your support, it won't be the same.

Small Richie Hall
I steal the ball
That's the name of the game
Stampeder football....."

This 'Flames Go All The Way' talk is jogging my memory a bit about another song of around the same vintage - might have been '86, might have been '89 - but I can't quite recall it. It's driving me nuts.

In 1989 there was "Flaming C Arena" by Rich Sadler at AM106....to the beat of Tone Loc's "Funky Cold Medina".

Still have that in my library, somehow electronically...as well as most of those songs, on cassettes.

Any luck on the Flames Go All the Way Song getting posted?

Sorry for the delay and the quality. Didn't get a chance to edit. Had to use my iPhone to copy the audio/video from a Beta tape.

Forgot to add that the audio was courtesy of CKXL and the video was from Channels 2&7 "The C of Red".

I remember the "Battle of the Stanley Cup" set to the tune of "Battle of New Orleans". Something like: "In 1989/we headed out East/along with General Crisp/Just to have a little feast"...etc.

It was the "KISS Morning Crew", I believe. Can't find it anywhere online...

Default I was in a band

My first post in a very long time as I'm more of a lurker, but this thread had me reminiscing.

Back in '04 I was in a band called SuperEgo and we did a cover of Ring of Fire with some trumpet playing buddies. Had no idea it was anywhere online, but found a live version on YouTube. https://youtu.be/nLQJPMV7N_E

Not sure if that link works or not. Just thought it would be funny to see it again. At one point during that run they even played the album version of it on Hockey Night in Canada and Don and Ron sent us an autographed picture that I now have framed with the CD in my basement. Cool memories.
