What was up with the crazy collars in that movie? Did the Mafia really wear collars like that? Was it unique to them? It didn't seem to be with the business set in the 60s/70s.

That's like saying you will never see a movie like The Godfather again, and while it still might be the best, there are been some amazing Mob movies over the years.

The Sopranos was some of the best TV for the first three seasons, then it went down hill. A properly done Goodfella's tv show can be amazing.
