Isn't Code Grey for when Dr. McDreamy has exhausted the available supply of hot nurses?

Apparently 34 police vehicles and 56 officers were involved in the lockdown of the building.

That was a truly phenomenal pair of episodes... some of the best TV I have watched in a long time.

I worked @ the Foothills about 5 years ago. Near the end of our shift (computer support) we were walking back to our office and decided to goof around and we all jumped up at the same time in the elevator in the south towers (the old ones). This ofcourse caused the elevator to get stuck\jam. We called the security office through the elevator phone and they told us to wait. We were all confused, thinking they should probably be getting us the hell out of there, but then we heard there was reports of a dude with a gun in his car in the parking lot. We waited about 30 minutes then said screw this and found a way to pry the door open and climb out.

I guess if there was really a madman on the grounds at the hospital, being stuck in an elevator was probably a good spot to be.

It's probably because the response is similar. If the response is "keep everyone where they are", the code can be the same for tornado as dude with a gun. Less codes = less confusing. Not everyone in the hospital necessarily needs to know all the details to know what to do. Hence "dude with a gun" getting grouped with "air exclusion"

Any chance it is a fart type issue - man, when I get into the chip dip, I just get ripe like nobody's business....normally I can deal with a self-induced Dutch oven, but not when I have had the dip.

It would be interesting to see a places and codes used thread. One of the funnier ones I have heard is Best Buy's "Thomas Crown Affair" code:

Wouldn't code grey have more to do with brain injury emergencies?

Glad to see that the employee induction process is alive and well in Calgary hospitals.

How is it possible that the employees at the hospital can hear a Code anything and be left with a wtf moment. Sounds to me that it was lucky that this incident didn't manifest into something that required correct reaction from the majority of the staff.

I'm not a fan of inductions and HR red tape, but a certain level is necessary, especially in a complex as large as the Foothills

Quote:
Police locked Foothills Hospital down and performed an exhaustive, room-by-room search Sunday after staff reported an armed man might be inside.

Security initiated the lockdown and police were called at 4:20 p.m. when staff members received the threat of a possible gunman inside.

Nearly 60 officers spent the next three hours pain-stakingly searching the 12-floor facility room by room.

“Based on the allegations and the threat, it was due diligence,” said Insp. Chris Butler. “We had to search the hospital to make sure there was nobody in the hospital with a firearm.”

No suspects were found and police did not recover any weapons.

“They were verbal threats that were made,” he said.
