Congratulations. My wife is due at the beginning of September. It will be our first child as well. It is definitely an exciting experience. I get scared to think about the future sometimes, I hope I'll be a good dad, I hope I'll be able to afford everything we need for the baby etc etc. But overall I am genuinely excited and can't wait for September.

Huge congratulations Habby and your lady! That's awesome news.
I'm a father of three. (7 year old son, 2 year old son, and a 6 month old baby daughter.) It's the best thing we ever did. Some people get way too stressed over the so called 'change' that kids bring to your life but the change is a great thing. To be honest money hasn't been a real factor that we've noticed and we are not wealthy by any stretch. We still travel within reason. (Went to England with the kids last year) and seeing the kids reactions to things is so incredible.
It's just the most amazing experience seeing a new life being born. Make sure you're there in full force for the delivery if possible. If we weren't such old farts we'd probably have another kid to be honest. 4 would be a nice even number to have!
Good luck and just wait until you hear the heartbeat for the first time........

Congrats, and wishing you all the best for the next 9 months and beyond. It's funny how I still think people who have, or are having kids must be older than me. When in fact they're usually younger, it's like everyone else gets older and I stay the same age.

Yeah, I took my time. First timer at 35. Thanks for all the well wishes, everyone! And BTW, the wife has already told me that the names Jean, Maurice, Guy or Patrick are out of the question.

Well my dad was 37 when I was born and I'm the oldest of two kids, and it actually worked out fairly well. He always was able to find time to coach hockey, baseball, and take my brother and golfing. I think he especially liked the fact that mom didn't get mad at him for going golfing if he took us with him. It also helped keep him in decent shape into his 50's. He even admits now that he's bored because he doesn't have any kids around to drag out to the golf course with him. Of course if you end up having a bombshell blonde of a daughter, than that might not be so good for your heart when she gets to be about 16 no matter how good of shape you're in!! :P

Congrats Habernac! As a lot of posters have said, fatherhood is amazing. My little guy is 10 months old and he's just awesome. So much fun! LOTS of hard work, but man, the payoff is a million fold! Way to go!

I hear that for the first 2 years you're trying to get them to stand up and start talking, then the next 16 all you want is for them to sit down and shut up.
