So apart from this magical bistro, who else serves up some kick-ass ginger beef?

I thought it was invented at Silver Dragon, but not sure if that makes it good or not. Would like to find a place that doesn't make it overly sweet or gingery.

If Ginger's last name is Beef, it'd better be a male escort.

Opposite of "Bistro".
There's a still a foodcourt in Brentwood mall?!

And it's not the fault of Ginger Beef that they had to move, they demolished everything over there (too bad for that bar on the corner, it was a cool building) for the new apartments.

I had always wanted to try Silver Inn's ginger beef (since it was where it was unofficially invented) -- it's original name was "Deep fried shredded beef in chili sauce".

Ordered from there about a month ago and it is literally "Deep fried shredded beef in chili sauce". It is dark red in color (versus brown) and the sauce was a lot different than the typical sweet tasting ginger beef that most places sell. Definitely an acquired taste (as I didn't like it at the start), but at the end of the meal I gave it a thumbs up.

If you truly want awesome Chinese food, give Kam Han Inglewood a go. A little on the pricey side, but you will not be disappoint. Salt and Pepper squid is unreal there.

Another little gem, is Wok with Chan next to the London Drugs near Heritage drive. I have been ordering from that place for 20+ years, and even though it has not been renovated, in that entire time span, they without a doubt have the most amazing Ginger Chicken I have ever had. And the beast in their beef dishes, is some sort of super tender beast. Highly recommended for sure, and very reasonably priced. I have a relative from Vancouver, that makes sure he specifically makes a trip there any time he hits Calgary, says it is better than anything he can find in Vancouver.

I dunno, the last two times I've been there this year the salt/pepper formula was off and it lost it's distinctive "flavor". When's the last time you went?

No, there isn't. The Ginger Beef took a corner spot in the Brentwood mall, near Safeway and that Pet Store. It's a very small dining room inside, and they turned part of the "mall" walk area into an eating area for Ginger Beef. Just put some movable half walls to separate.

That area needs to get back to being a decent walking area. The Mall is nothing, and now even your choice of crappy food is limited since the Pizza Hut and KFC got torn down for the University City condo development.

I'm sure there is plans, but hopefully once all the development is near finished more businesses move back into the area. I've heard Starbucks has dibs on a spot on the main floor of the first Condo, that's great news, there is only two already.

Annnnnd... thread topic change again.
